| Hair problems My little girl Bows is 3 1/2 years old. I use latex bands to put her hair up in a bow. I noticed a little redness on her scalp when I parted it a week ago. The redness became a scab and then disappeared after a few days. Now there is a small area of hair loss along that part area. She is in great health, but I am a little anxious regarding the hair loss. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hi and welcome to YT . One thing you may want to rule out is whether this is ring worm or not. Dogs who get ringworm will often get it on the top of their head - it won't necessarily be in a "ring", but can rather be a hair-loss area that can be a little scabby. Just something to consider / rule out, just in case.

| hair problems Thank you for replying. There is a tiny gray mark in the middle of the hair loss. I guess it is a vet check if it is ringworm. I see no ridging as you would if it was a child with ringworm. I am trying to use a different group of hair so I won't irritate the hair loss area. I will be watching the area daily if not twice daily. |

| Sounds like a bit of skin got caught in the topknot. Try loosening the top knot with the end of a rat tail comb. |

| Yup, that's what I was thinking, maybe the top knot was too tight & it cut off circulation to that part of the skin. I make sure their top knot is loose, even tho I'll need to fix it everyday, sometimes twice a day.

| Hair problems Thank you for replying I will definitely keep an eye on the tightness of her latex band. |
