| sleeping a lot today... Hi, I just got my little guy Tiki a week ago and he had his first vet visit today and they gave him about 4 different medicines to take today for various reasons. Now he's been sleeping allllll day. Do you think this should be normal? I know he had a very busy day and didn't get in his usual 4 naps through out the day, so I'm just thinking he's making up for lost nap time. Thanks! |

| Yes, when Tigger got his first set of shots(all over agian, my vet wanted to make sure that it was actually done correctly.) He slept ALL day, In fact he wouldn't even move from his one spot on the couch. And if you wanted to hold him, you couldn't because he would yelp from the soreness. It's perfectly normal, don't worry. By the way, What medicines did they give him? When they gave Tigger his first set all over they gave him some liquid de-wormer as well. (Yellow liquid paste in syringe.) |

| They had to give him that same yallow stuff you are talking about in the syringe for the de-worming and a pill for another parasite he had. Then the heart warm monthly pill. He didn't have to get any shots today because the breeder I got him from had just recently gave him a series. So that's why I was a little concerned. I know 3 medicines was probably a lot for the little guy. Right? |

| Hi and congratulations on Tiki!! How old is he and how much does he weigh? Is the yellow medicine albon? If so, that is for coccicidia which is actually not a worm but a microscopic parasite. Did they do a stool sample test and say he had coccidia? Has he had diarhea or any other symptoms of the condition. I do not know about the heart worm pill but i do know that yorkies have very sensitive stomachs and they do need to eat at least every four hours to avoid low blood suger. Is he eating? I hope he is better tomorrow. |

| Thanks for your reply. He is a wopping 2.1 lbs and is 13 weeks old. He slept allllll day and all night last night. I couldn't wait to get up this morning to see how he was. He's doing great! He went to the bathroom just perfect last night twice (on his pee pads!) and he's back to his frisky little self. Yes, they did the stool samples yesterday and that is what he had, poor little guy. Thank you again for the response, he's doing great! |

| Hi Tiki is a cutie! It is normal for them to sleep a lot and due to the busy doctor's visit I'm sure he needed a lot of rest. Welcome to YT!

But mylittletigger. Your comment about about the vet and shots bothers me greatly. This is a VERY important subject. I would like to start another thread on this subject. Please my intent is not to upset you but to educate puppy owners. I will post my thoughts in a different thread. | |
