| Primal's Mixes & Grinds Anyone's fur butt tried it? No doubt they'll love it...I want to try this for Momo as a supplemental treat between meal x's. He's so active all the time, it's hard to keep weight on him. Momo eats 3 x's a day/ gets Primal 4 frozen nuggets total. This seems to be the right portion for him. I would like to give him the mixes or grinds on days we spend outdoors more or if I see that he's been more active & needs to replenish his calories. He also BEGS for food by squeaking his ball endlessly or barking @ me constantly, sometimes an hr b4 feeding time. Would like to give him something for those x's so he can leave me @ peace loll. So far as his calorie burning & overall health, his last blood work & urinalysis came out perfect. He weighted in @ 4.75#'s. I'm also wondering what would be best, the Mixes or Grinds? I kinda like that the Mixes have fruits & veggies in it, we might try that 1st.

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | I personally would start with the mixes. It has a little bit of other stuff added to it. Like fiber. Unless you want to add then stuff on your own. Since summer is coming and veggies are too. Or if you have a garden. You know me. I love their stuff too. . .let me know how it goes. I am still on the freeze dried. But I think maybe I will start adding frozen. . .

I've been pondering on how to thaw it, will probably have to slice it up, put it in a zip lock baggie & freeze the remainder. Primal has the trial pack in frozen, you should give that a try!

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Oh I found it ! Primal Blog - Latest information on the Primal Brand I am used to the convenience of the nuggets and patties. How will I managed a 2-pound chub? It is actually very easy to manage once you break it down into smaller portions. First partially thaw the chub in cool water till it is just soft enough to saw through. You can use either a serrated knife, or a small hack saw. Take the two pounds and cut it in half. Now you have two, one pound pieces. Cut these in half, now you have four half pound pieces, and so on. By doing this, you basically make your own portioned feedings. Separate the newly sized portions into ziplock baggies and refreeze till needed. This works equally as well on the five pound chubs. Once you start incorporating the chubs into your pet's diet, you will find it not only beneficial and cost effective, but also easy.

I had emailed & they emailed back w/the instructions to cut the chubs up. She said not to thaw it all the way & cut them up & refreeze the unused portions. I just let it sit for a day in the fridge & cut it in half, then cut them up in smaller rolls, put them individually in a little zip lock baggie & put those in a bigger zip lock baggie. They LOVE it! Even Mimi got a small piece & she didn't throw it up. (Mimi & Turbo throw up when they eat cold food or water.) I've been adding a piece in Momo's meals, hopefully this will add more calories for his needs. This would be an awesome topper for kibble or home cooked meals!
