| Itchy puppy :-/ So we have noticed that Dexter scratches himself (what I think) too much. We have looked and there are no signs on fleas, and he is also on Frontline, so I don't think that's what it is. But at times it seems like it bothers him, and we even found some scabs. Vet said it might be allergies and suggested giving him some Benadryl. Anyone had similar problem? We are feeding him Canine Caviar and last time bought one that has no grain, just in case that's what he is allergic too. |

Allergies aren't just a problem. They are a symptom of a low immune system. I'd also add to Dexter's diet a strong probiotic. Any other symptoms like eating grass or paper? Giulio Ferrari Clinical Nutritionist

| Oh no Any particular probiotic? We do give him yogurt every once in a while. I've never seen him eat grass, as far as paper, only shreds it, he really enjoys wedding magazines |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Probiotics I like Microflora Herbsmith Microflora Plus. It's 10 Billion CFU's, and is very moderately priced. LOL @ Wedding Mags! We no longer have Canine Caviar in Texas, but the probiotics you can find at ThePawDepot.com |

| What is your purpose here on YT? Seems like all you are doing is promoting your website.

In all my posts, this is the first time I suggest the website! I have even helped people find a dealer of certain foods closer to them. I am a clinical nutritionist and published author. I'm here to help while doing research on a book I was commissioned to write on the breed. I'm sorry if I offended you by suggesting where to find a product that is not too easy to find anyways. If I were to promote anything, I would rather promote my own line, which I didn't in order for people not to have that perception. I've got clients in this forum which can vouch for me. I'm glad to answer any questions you may have, and to learn from your expertise in the breed. Kindest regards, Giulio Ferrari Clinical Nutritionist

| I would think it is environmental allergies and Callie has those too so I am giving her an omega 3 supplement (my vet suggested this) and before bed I wipe all her paws with a sensitive baby wipes to get any pollen off before she goes to bed. I also try to bathe her weekly. Environmental allergy's are much more common then food allergies.

I am here to help and to research. I recognize that with all my years of experience, in class, in lab, and in clinic, the best way to become proficient in a breed is to listen to those who breed/rescue/love them.

Benadryl is not the greatest antihistamine in terms of allergies bc it has to be give 3-4x per day (has a short half life). I'd recommend getting the dose for Zyrtec or Claritin from your vet as those are once q 24 hrs. I like Natures Farmacy's Probiotic Max, or their Dogzymes Digestive Enhancer. Along w/ a probiotic, I'd recommend Ark Naturals Royal Coat - it has a nice formula that already contains the necessary Vit E to digest the Omegas.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | I've donated, but that won't change the fact that I'm not here to make $5 bucks on a probiotic. I'm not independently wealthy, so I do have to make money to survive, and I just happen to do what I love for a living (and went to school for). I put my money where my mouth is, now please stop the hostility. |
