| Treats for Chewing anxiety Daisy had chewed some things in the house. I have been giving her the stick chews when we leave the house. I don't crate her , but we put her in our laundry room with her bed and our older poodle. I give her pleanty of toys, but she has chewed our baseboard..thus the chew sticks. I have to give her one each morning when leaving for work. She doesn't eat all of it, but i still feel like there is a healthier alernative to the chew sticks. Any suggestions? |

| I have been giving her Purina Busy Bones, or Hartz Oinkies with the peanut butter. These are the 2 kinds I puchased last, but she likes any kind of treat. |

| I would actually suggest trying a kong toy with a treat in it and also maybe a nylabone (some dogs like them a lot and some won't touch them). I wouldn't give Purina (haven't really investigated Harz)...they just don't have a good rep for treats. Bully sticks are great for chewing but not sure I'd leave one with her all day alone (I like to be their to supervise with chews in case something goes wrong). I know there are some chewers out there so someone else will be able to help you further

| We use a nylabone (supervised) but she chews on all her toys and all our fingers but we're trying to break that habit. LOL

| We don' t leave her all day. Hubby works nights , I work days only in confined area for about 1 hour per morn and afternoon. At first I was giving her a Kong with a treat inside, but she got it out too quick. We have repaired our baseboard 3 or 4 times. She always chews the same place. She is a larger girl- about 10-11 lbs. I don't worry so much about her choking, but want her to have something nutritional, not a bunch of stuff thats bad for her. She gets 1 of these a day..don't want her to get fat either. |

| I like Kong toys with treats inside that they work at to get out...I also put 1/2 cup kibble in a Gatorade bottle (the small bottle, ?? 16 oz ??....I like the Gatorade bottles because they are heavier plastic) and give it to my babies...they will spend almost an hour playing with that bottle, and then enjoying the "reward" as the kibble falls out. The ONLY chew thing I will leave with my babies unsupervised, is the Red Barn Bleached Bones with cheese or peanut butter stuffing. Those bleached bones are impossible for any of mine to chew up, break of, eat, etc.....I have some that I have had for 5 years! |

| I give my girl frozen baby carrots...they take a break as I think they get brain freeze so it takes a little longer. I actually asked my dogs surgeon about treats today. He said all "store bought" treats are bad except the ones made that are biscuit like and made from kibble. He said the carrots, romaine lettcue and frozen green beans were great. Maybe you can stuff a kong with frozen veggies and pieces of kibble. If its good and frozen it will take her a little longer than normal.. |
