| Nail trimming..... I've been having the vet trim her nails everytime I've gone in for her shots, but now her shots are done except for her rabies shot in September. The last time I was at the vet was July 27th and her nails got trimmed then. I'm afraid to try it, cause Emy does not sit still! But I also don't want to take her to a groomer yet, I'm also concerned about the thing they put around their necks, cause she has coughed while on walks with her harness on, not a cough really a gagging type noise....not everytime just once in a while, so I don't know if she is having a throat issue, but I'm not going to let a groomer tie her up by her neck cause she does not sit still. Do any of you do your own clipping of the nails? If you have any tips you could share, would be appreciated. I have a set of nail clippers and also have an Oster electric nail file, that I have never taken out of box yet. It has little holes at the top where you put the nail through while the file is turning...it might work for a calm puppy, but not for Emy yet. |

| I know Sugarmamma on here does her own. You might send her a pm. I will try to find the thread she has on it. As for me, I don't do my own. I let the groomer do it or I run to the vet to have them do it. The vet charges $10 and they get them in and out quickly.

| I hate nail trimming. The funny thing is, Jackson has actually become very tolerant of me holding his paws, and touching them, lifting them up, etc. Then I think he senses my nerves when I go in for the cut, and he pulls away a bit. I'm just SO scared I'm going to cut into the quick. Especially after he was running on pavement all day once and cut into him himself, and how much blood I saw!! It kinda freaked me out, ha. So I TRY. I still want to buy a dremel, but for now, the groomer just does it.

| Just took Baxter for a nail trim at the vet's office today. He was a nervous wreck and it took 2 to hold him and 1 to trim the nails. Usually the groomer does it, but we started doing the grooming on our own...nails...no, not something I will do. Nail trim - $16 Expressing anal glands $16 Everything is more expensive at this vet!!! |

| Nail trimming We have always laughed at the Pedi Paws commercials...you're saying it really works? Can't see Baxter sitting still for something that vibrates, makes noise and takes a long time to complete.... Tell me about your experience...may be something I want to consider as I am NOT going to use the clippers - too scary! |
