| Vitamin Callie does not eat as much dog food as is recommended for her no matter what food it is and I hand feed her now in the morning and at night to make sure she gets some but I leave food out all the time. She normally doesn't eat the food out of the dish unless she is running around a lot or if Sammy my moms yorkie is here but normally when he is here shes running around. I worry shes not getting enough of what she needs from the dog food. I do plan on attempting home cooking when we move but for now I am feeding her Blue Buffalo wilderness and I was wondering if there is a vitamin any one knows about that would help to make sure she is getting what she needs?

| I home cook and I use BalanceIt. I'm not sure if it would work for you or not but you might contact them and find out. https://secure.balanceit.com/

| I wouldn't worry about it. You can't force feed and if she's eating some, she's probably getting enough. The recommendations on the bag are always way over-estimates. Most vitamin supplements are pointless for dogs... they get what they need through their food, there's no need to worry about balance when feeding an AAFCO kibble. You could also start scheduled feeding. Free feeders are often pickier and since they know the food is always down, they become more sparse about eating it. I know that's how Jackson was. Now that he's on a schedule (he gets kibble mixed with wet in the morning) and then around 5pm, I pour the rest of his kibble into his bowl and he eats it dry within the hour. He now knows it's only down at certain times and really seems to enjoy dry food, like he never did before. He was super picky before. Also, Jackson is 16lbs and extremely active and never eats more than 3/4 cup per day. Even that is pushing it. Generally speaking he gets 2/3 cup per day, sometimes less. If he seems hungry, I will feed him more or if he gets a super active day. But on a lazy day, he gets 1/2 cup and on a very very active day he will get up to 3/4 cup. If Callie is mostly just around the house, then I doubt she needs more than 1/2 cup and is probably self maintaining pretty well.

| Mine eat alot less when they're not active and/or in the summer with the warmer/hot weather. In the fall when it cools down and they run around more, they start to eat more. Sometimes I cheat and add something different and tasty in their food, and they'll finish their meals, maybe 2-3 times a week or so. I just keep an eye on their body condition... if they're looking thin or fat.... and adjust accordingly.

| This is what I was using to determine how much found she should be having Dog Food Calculator. I don't even think she is eating a 1/2 of a cup in a day. I tried the scheduled feedings and mixed her food with wet food and that didn't really work she wouldn't eat anything in the morning and would only pick at the food at night. I worry about her not eating because of those occasional hypoglycemic episodes she sometimes gets although they seem to be very rare now I still worry about it.

| Ry is 16 pounds. He eats..well, it varies. He was eating just over a cup. Definitely not fat.. He was gaining sone though. I'd like him to maintain somewhere around where he is now. So he generally gets a cup a day. Switching foods so we'll see what happens. He is high strung but we are very inactive. Dogs should not need vitamins on a quality kibble. How many calories of treats and chews is she getting a day?

Bestbullysticks are approx 12 calories per inch. So a 6" bully is approx 72 calories. I always lower the amount of food when he has one. I know you worry about her hypo episodes, and I definitely would, too. But I do think as long as she's free feeding, she will just continue to be this way and pick and graze. Which is fine, IMO, if she maintains well on that. But if you are wanting her to eat more, she will learn. Believe me, I thought Jackson would never be a scheduled feeder. It took a few days of him learning and dogs pick it up fast.

| Bully sticks are about 29 calories per inch (redbarn) or 174 for six inches. That is equivalent to 1/2 cup of food. She may be filling up on treats instead if food.
