| Interceptor have to be chewed? While searching a thread for ways to give Maddie her medication, I came across a post that said Interceptor must be chewed. If this is true can someone point me to where this information is found. I can't find it anywhere. |

| I don't have any tablets on hand now, but I saw it right on the little package you pop the pill out of I believe. What I would do is crush it with a spoon then take a little sour cream, you could use anything soft, & just pick it up with the dab on my finger.

| They are chewable tabs and it is said that they do have to be chewed. Never heard that they "have" to be from a vet or the company, but it is something I've wondered about also. Ellie doesn't chew hers. I have to put it in her throat. For Sentinel, I just cut it in half so it breaks up in her system easier. Best bet would be to call Novartis and ask.

| I just read the administration instructions in my box of Interceptor pills for dogs under 10lbs. It doesn't say anything about it needing to be chewed.

| Is it called a chewable tablet on there? I'm thinking maybe that's where I got the idea.

| Nope. Mine are Interceptor Flavor Tabs, 12 pack box, for dogs 2-10lbs. And the box actually has a pic of a yorkie on the front

| Last I looked into this I could not find anything from novartis saying that it must be chewed. I think it is OK if they are chewed but it's not required.

| Follow up on Interceptor I am reading the package insert for Interceptor flavor tabs that I happened to purchase today for my dogs. The word chewable does not appear in the package insert nor on the package. The package says "Interceptor (milbemycin oxime) Flavor Tabs" The directions state: "Interceptor Flavor Tabs are palatable and most dogs will consume the tablet willingly when offered by the owner. As an alternative, the dual-purpose tablet may be offered in food or administered as other tablet medications." I do not see that the product must be chewed or crushed etc.

| Gosh, I hope not. The 0 to 10lbs. is so small, I know it must just go down. MIne seem to love theirs. I have never had them turn down Interceptor. Gave them Confortus Saturday and they all hated it. |
