| Dark Red Soft Stool Hi everyone - I'm concerned. My 3 year old Yorkie, started to have stomach problems about 1 week ago - I could tell because I could audibley hear his stomach making creaking noises, and he was also farting quite a bit. After 2 days of this, I put him on boiled hamburger and rice. That night, he had diareaha and it was a dark maroon red. The next day, and continuing with hamburger and rice, he had harder stool, but it was also dark maroon red - it was also softer than normal stool. It's been about a week now, and still, he is farting, and having soft, dark maroon stools. Everything else seems fine - he is running around, jumping, playing, and generally seems to be 100% ok. Here is some other random information: I started him on Advantage 3 weeks ago, due to fleas. I changed his food from Royal Canin to Innova 3 weeks ago as well. He is drinking very normally. He is also eating normally - I just ran out of hamburger, so he's back on Innova for now. He does not eat obscure treats or any human food whatsoever. I hread that this could be Melena - bleeding in the stomach - but I can't find much information on it. Do I need to take him to the vet asap? Thanks |

| The redness could be caused by many things but if it's been going on for this long I would def make a vet appt. It's better to be safe than sorry. Hope he feels better ASAP!
