| Danny has sores with puss Hi Since my last posts some months ago - I can report that Danny was eventually diagnosed with striction (?). He has to get som laxapet about 3 times a week - seems he has been okay as he poops without struggling and without the laxative lately! A new problem has arrised. A few days ago I felt some wartlike sores on his chest, neck and abdomen - basically the bottom side of him. I saw that some are green pussy (quite biggish). They seem to crust over like chicken pox. But it seems to get worse. It does not seem to bother him though. I read that it could be urine (he's urine does have a strong smell) or could it be soap perhaps (he loves to slip a slide with the kids and we put dishwasher detergent on the slid)? Any advise would be really appreciated! |

YT 1000 Club Member | My opinion would be to take him to the vet and get a diagnosis on what it is. I'm also bumping this post up so maybe someone else can give you advice.

| Green puss is a sign of infection. He needs to be seen by a Vet and properly diagnosed. I also would not think that dish soap on a slip and slide would cause infected soars since one of the treatments for fleas it to wash in Dawn dish soap. Please keep us posted on what the Vet tells you. Good luck

I have used the Dawn treatment before for fleas and it never had any negative affect on my dogs. If this dog has multiple sores that are infected he is probably in a lot of pain- please get him into a vet today. | |

| I have to add that I read that dogs cannot get chicken pox - can they get infected somehow though, as it just happens that my daughter (who he sleeps with on the sly) has chicken pox at the momen?? |

| Definitely get him to the vet. The sores can.get worse if not treated. Good luck. let us know how he does.

| No Lillymae - normal dish soap. (I am in South Africa - we do not ge Dawn here). So it could still be! But I'd rather get him to the vet just to be sure! Thanks! |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | What is striction? I agree with the others, yourdog needs to see a vet immediately. I always suggest that someone develop a phone relationship with their vet and staff, and when anything arises they can let you know if a problem is urgent and needs to be seen ASAP or if it can wait and be home treated for a while. Since your vet also knows the condition of your dog and previous treatment, he needs to be aware of any new things that develop, as this might help him put together a new diagnosis. I'm confused why you say, "it may be urine". Do you mean to say that you think the urine is causing the sores? Also, I want to add, that dogs display pain very differently than humans. Just because they aren't crying or acting out, it doesn't mean that they are not in pain. In the wild, other animals would attack an animal that displays pain, because it would be showing its vulnerability. So those animals who have learned to hide pain are the ones who evolved.

| OH nANCY - It's a stricture! *blush* - he has a narrowed anus. So he struggled to poop> After Thousands of rands on treatments etc - I took him to a specialist who gave him aenesthetic and diagnosed the problem properly. But as I sasi - that seems to be okay now as he does not need a laxative anymore to keep the consistency of his poop "manageble". I took out medical insurance for him - it does not cover the stricture - but at least other stuff! |

| Yes Lamosil does work for ringworm but not really any faster then what you would get from your vet. Some animals just respond faster to treatment then others. Make sure to vac daily & wash all bedding daily as the spores will be falling off anywhere he goes. Also wash your hands well after applying med to him & check yourself & any other living being in your house frequently for sores. |
