| Is it normal to be tired after puppy shots I took Charm in to the vets today for her 3rd set of puppy shots and all she seem to want to do is lay around and sleep is this normal? My vet did say she might be tired today, but my other two pups didn't do this after getting their shots. She received the other two set when she was with the breeder before I got her. My vet waited a few weeks to give her the shots because she was sick with a parasite giardia. She is also really tiny she is 14 weeks and weight today 26oz which is way up compared to 2 weeks ago she was 18oz. |

| It's normal for 24-36 hours as long as she is eating & drinking and not exhibiting any symptoms of pain from the injection site.

| I agree that it is normal. My vet compared Raley to a human infant. She told me that he may just want to lie around and sleep. She also told me to give him motrin. I swear I felt like I had a human baby all over again....but it was a good feeling! The day after Raley's last shots he was fine. Good luck!

| The vet told us it'll be like having a human baby at home too, that if she felt a bit warmer than usual, had fever or was a bit in pain, we should give her a drop of kid's paracetamol every 8 hrs.

| Yep, not uncommon for them to be a bit lethargic after their shots. Just make sure she is drinking plenty of water. (They can also run a bit of a puppy fever as well.) |

| Spike is the same - he's a bit tired and sore after his shots, but usually fine within 24 hours. The rabies one tends to be a bit rougher - he has a bit more trouble with that one, but he's usually fine after a day or so.

| Sophie is tiny, too (just over 2 lbs. now fully grown), and she had a bad reaction to her last round of puppy shots. Was fine at the vet's office, but threw up multiple times when we came home and then curled up in her bed to sleep... or so I thought. She was actually having a reaction and was almost unresponsive when I tried to wake her about 15 minutes later. It was like she was disoriented or stoned-- very scary! It all happened so quickly and I took her right back at the vet's office. The vet gave her a shot to settle her stomach and then essentially force fed her a glucose gel. Sophie recovered incredibly quickly; by the time we got home she was ready to play. The vet advised me to always give her a 1/4 tsp of Benadryl before vaccines in the future. Has anyone else had something weird like this happen after vaccines? |

| Brooklyn got her shots today also. Today's shots included the rabies injection and the vet said she might not be herself today. She slept for what seemed like hours when we got home. She was very low key all day. There were times she perked up, but for the most part she was very mellow and sleepy. She ate and drank so I assume all is well. I've had dogs all my life and I don't remember any of them being quite this sleepy after shots so I feel ya. No vomiting or diarrhea or any other scary symptoms here. | Nervous first time mommy! I am a proud mommy of an 8 week old yorkie male named Kobi. I took him to his first vet appointment Friday. He got vaccinations and I was told he had round worms and ear mites. I've been giving him ear drops twice daily and he has had worms in his poop. I haven't seen anymore worms except that day but he's acting very tired. He eats, drinks, and plays but then lays around shortly after. This is my first dog ever and I'm scared something is wrong. Can someone help me?? |
