Donating YT Addict | Fishy ? Bee has been having a Fishy smell coming out of her back end lately, including when she goes #2, it smells fishy too. Sorry to be gross, but I wanted to know what this could be & if she is sick. :-( Do you think she could just need her anal sacks done ? Do Yorkies have those, I know our late Bichon Frise Lily did. Please Help !!! I'm worried about my Baby Girl.

| It's most like that her anal glands need to be expressed. Your vet probably does it very inexpensively. When I bring Cooper to the groomer, she does it. I've watched videos on how to do it myself, but am not very comfortable. Perhaps your vet can show you.

| Yep, it's the anal glands! There is nothing quite like the smell of "butt juice" as my DH calls it. It is enough to make me want to jump out of a running vehicle when on the road with Neo! The best way to deal with this is let the vet do it, because the inexperienced or rough hands can do more damage than good. |

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | Its deffo her anal glands. My older dog does this too and she has to get her glands done regulalry. I know the smell its awful like rotten fish! Just take her to the vets or the groomers and they should be able to empty them for her. You can do it yourself but I wouldnt want to lol

| Once the anal glands are manually expressed, they lose the muscle function to release it when they go #2. Giving them xtra fiber, like thawed frozen green beans in their diet helps bulk & firm things up to help express it naturally. Your vet or vet tech will show you how to do it properly if your fur baby needs to have it done regularly. If expressed improperly or not completely, it can cause an abscess which is very painful & sometimes requires surgery. Anal Sacs
