| What do you use on your Yorkie for fleas and ticks? I have a six month old yorkie puppy and in the past 2 weeks, I have seen 2 ticks on her so I need to find a good flea/tick prevention. In the past with a cat that I had, I used Frontline and was pleased with that but is there a comparable product that is cheaper? Thank you! |

| I use Advantix. I started out using Frontline but Callie kept getting ticks so I tryed Advantix and its seems to work pretty good.

| There are a few different choices......just please use something! I've just been through a real ordeal with my Halo. She was sick for a week, vomiting and not eating at all. The vet was treating her with different anti-biotics; nothing was helping. On the second day to the vets for fluids, I noticed a really red spot on her tummy. Turns out it was an embedded tick! He started treating her for "tick fever" with doxyclycline and she is so much better. She'll probably have to be treated for 4 - 6 wks to make sure she's completely ok. Anyway, I was treating mine yorkies with Comfortis. I was not aware that it did not work for ticks. I feel so stupid and so bad for my Halo having to be so sick because of me! Anyway, we are going back to Advantix. It worked great before, but the thought of just giving a pill (comfortis) instead of putting the Advantix on them....just sounded so much easier. Well, after a sick baby and 500 bucks later.....go with Advantix.

| I use frontline plus, only when I actuall;y see signs of fleas or tics. Many years we don't need it at all, and if they do, one dose usually does the trick. I do not like to use chemicals on them if it is not needed. |

| Frontline Plus I use Frontline Plus, it comes in a spray or in the tubes you put on the back of their neck. I have never had any problems with fleas or ticks. Just make sure you get the right pound size. I only used it from April through September or October.

| Frontline Plus is the only thing I have ever used on Buddy. I stop Oct (being the last application) and start up again in March. I apply every 6wks instead of every 4wks. So far so good. Never saw a flea on him but have picked a couple of little ticks off him over the years. Frontline Plus does not repell every kind of tick, per Frontline. He's never had a reaction so I am not willing to change. |

| I have never used any flea/tick products with Sasha, but now that I'm back & forth between 2 houses (the new house being out in a country area) I just started using Frontline Plus, just picked it up last night actually! |

| I used Revolution last year for Zeus and we had no problems. It comes in doses for 5lbs and under and 5-10lbs, and so on. I love that it treats for fleas, ticks & heartworm. I just placed another order. |

| With the articles in the news lately about the dangers of on-spot flea medications, I am trying something different. I found a flea and tick spray that contains no chemicals, just various types of oils, water, vanilla and a few other things. The directions say to saturate your dog at least weekly. I also found a flea and tick shampoo that contains basically the same ingredients, no chemicals. I read a review by a vet who said the shampoo does work, but the effects are not long lasting and may need to be used at least 2x a week. I used Vectra last year and was still getting fleas off both dogs, in fact Moses carried fleas all winter inspite of my best efforts. So, we'll see how this stuff goes; if I see it is not working, I'll probably have to go back to the medicine, I just really want to try something different. I found these products at PetSmart (which I never go to) but the store I usually go to does not carry anything like this. |

| I use K9 Advantix simply because last summer we used Frontline Plus and he got sooo many ticks while on it, and even got Lymes disease. Since starting K9A, he's not had one tick to my knowledge. MD is very tick infested in the summer months. He's not on anything between end of October-late March.
