| bully sticks and yorkies i am a new member and i joined because i have so many questions. last october, my three year old yorkie had a intersuseption (spelling?) and we almost lost her. this is rare for adult dogs - mostly common in puppies, kitties and human children. after having part of her small intestine removed and re-sectioned, she slowly recovered. no one knows what caused this problem; but since she nearly died from this terrible problem in her digestive tract........I am very careful about what goes in her mouth. she is on a diet of organic home cooked chicken, a little pumkin, mixed with sweet potato and venison kibble. her treats are organic hard kibble. She loves bully sticks; but i am afraid of them........she is a chow hound of the first magnitude. any thoughts about the safety of these? thanks |

| Bully sticks are the only thing I really trust. I have been giving them to Madison since she was a pup. She is over a year now and we've had no problems at all!!

| I would check with your vet to be on the safe side. Glad your baby is doing well. Better safe than sorry. They give Buddy the runs so he dosen't get them anymore. |

Yorkie Yakker | I thought Rocks was the only one with that problem. What do you give Buddy instead of bully sticks?

LOL and I thought Buddy was the only one! He chews only natural beef bones. I get them at the pet store. They can be filled with cheese, peanut better etc when you need to give a special treat. That's all he's been chewing for years until I tried the bullysticks. Of coures he loved them but didn't work out for him. | |

| I hope they work out for your pup...If I couldn't give mine bully sticks, I'd have to put them up for adoption...Actually, they'd be calling "dog protective service", on me, asking to be put up for adoption, because bully sticks are their chew of choice...They play w/them, tease each other w/them...run around the house w/them...I always give them two (a 12" cut in half, w/branch shears) However, for some reason, only one end of the stick tastes right ...lol... |

| Have you tried Himalayan Chews? Bully sticks are the all time favorite at my house, but the kiddos love their HC's, too.

Yorkie Yakker | I have not tried Himalayan chews but will look into them since Rocks chewed up our wood windowsill.

| If you go down to the Yorkie Products For Sale Forum, you'll see RDB911's thread selling these. Ryan (RDB911) is a terrific vendor and his prices are the best you'll find.

That is too funny!! I might try them with Cerise. Right now she still is a little picky. She loves her cooked meals but for snacks she turns her nose up with the exception of a half teaspoon of cottage cheese. It's only been 3 weeks since she's been home so I'll give her more time.
