| We have three babies, not one of them has had any problems. The vets office should know what shots are due. If you are talking about little baby puppies that you have breed, I hope a Breeder will read your site, because I have no idea about the very first shots. Good luck to you, and Please keep us posted.

| Definitely NO LEPTO for these little guys. My vet recommended that I do the regular shots and then a week later do the rabies. Reactions are relatively rare, They most likely will be groggy for the rest of the day and just nap and they may get a little bump where the shot was administered. I'm not sure about anything different for the cleft palate pup. Please remember that despite what anyone will tell you about the negatives of vaccine, it is a widely used and generally safe practive and it's always better to be safe than sorry. |

| There are alterntives to traditional vaccines and the great majority of experts now agree that in the past our pets were over vaccinated (every year is overkill) which lead to a host of serious problems from allergies, to impaired immune systems, to cancer. There is a tremendous amount of research on this topic on the internet and I feel it is important for each individual dog owner to educate themselves and make decisions that are comfortable for them. The mother gives the puppies a certain amount of natural immunity if she nurses the pups and this immunity lasts for several weeks after the pups are weaned. The growing theory is that puppies should not get any vaccines, if they are to get any at all, until they are 12 weeks of age. To do otherwise can severely compromise their natural immune system from developing properly. The only vaccine that is required by law is the rabies. There are many vaccines that are recommended by the vet but not necessary for your area due to the small chance of contracting the disease it is designed to prevent. Many experts do not feel that the benefits of certain vaccines outweigh the risks of an adverse reaction (and btw, being lethargic and getting a bump are both considered "reactions" in the context of this issue) or a life altering malady as a result of vaccinosis. There are vaccine alternatives called nosodes as well as natural remedies to help in alleviating the adverse affects of vaccines should you choose to vaccinate. I have cited many internet sources in the threadsI have started on here regarding this very important issue. Here is one link to get you started...http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...ht=vaccination Good luck in your research and if you need more info please PM me. I am always happy to help. |
