Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | My Lulu came into her first heat Hi all, It's been so long since I have posted on this forum. My life has changed in several ways since last August, and I am only now coming back to myself. Anyway, my Lulu girl came into her first heat on Thanksgiving Day. She is 11 month old and weights about 4.5 pounds. She bled quite a bit during the first week, her genitals and nipples got swollen, and she became more subdued in her manners — it just seems like she has less energy. Now Lulu is 1.5 weeks into it, and I have a few questions: (1) when will the heat stop? I read somewhere that it takes about 3 weeks, is it true? (2) what is the window of time when she can get pregnant? We have a 9 months old male yorkie, Trezor, who is going crazy all over Lulu. But we don't consider mating them until Lulu is in her 3rd heat. (3) Trezor became completely obsessed with wanting to mate with Lulu. We have him in a belly band in the house, so he doesn't mark everywhere and it also prevents them from mating. The first week Lulu was in heat, Trezor just wanted to mark. But now all he does is bugging her, and trying to hump her. He won't even go to sleep at night, but whines and cries all night in his crate because he's away from her. How long will he be acting like that? Thanks so much for your help,

| I always think of it as one week coming in, one week in, and one week going out. That does not apply to all and is very general. It has more to do with the color of her discharge. You poor little guy! He will stop being frustrated when she stops giving off her scent. |
