| HELP!New Yorkie with worms & fleas Hello all, I hope you can help. I bought an 8 week old yorkie from a local breeder. We picked him up last Saturday. Well Tuesday night Dolce had white worms in his stool. We took him to the vet he has worms and fleas. The vet gave him a shot of strongrid. Then he gave us another dose to give him in 10 days. We used advantage that night. The next morning there were 2 live fleas in his crate. The vet said that worms will pass in his stool for a few days. Thursday night (lastnight) he had live worms in his stool. There were white and moving around. Should I take him back to the vet or is this normal?? I feel so bad for our puppy. But I also worry if he is infesting our home. The said we can bomb our house. So I am going to go to the pet store and get something. If anyone has a great deal of experience with this. Please let me know any tips and what to do. He also has horrible breathe. What to do about that?? Thanks, DolcesMom |

| First I would like to welcome you to YT. I would take him back to the vet or atleast give them a call. If you bomb your house please follow the directions carefully as to not get sick. I hope all goes well for you....good luck

| Welcome to Yorkie Talk. I think you should call the breeder and tell her/him that the puppy they sold you has worms and fleas. I will also call your vet and find out if is normal for you pup to poop the worms still alive. I dont have much experience with fleas, but I know others do and will be able to give you good advise. If you are going to use a flea bomb please read and follow the instructions. Good luck and please keep us posted. |

| Thank you. I have informed the breeder. She was surprised that he had fleas. I just called the Vet he said that it is normal to still pass live worms. What is horrible is that it is contagious and I have a 4 year old. My biggest concern are the fleas. We are going to shampoo the carpets this weekend to hopefully get rid of them. I will read the directions to bomb the fleas. I would imagine we will do that and then leave the house for a few hours.... |

| Sounds like a tapeworm infection. Here's a link: http://www.allergicpet.com/tapeworms_dogs.html Best of luck to you in the prevention of fleas. I use Frontline Plus on my boys and haven't had any problems, thank goodness! Lisa

| Well we got the puppy from a breeder. She had more expensive ones but we couldn't afford them. We paid $650 for him. She gave us his shot records. It doesn't make sense to me. She kept them in the house. We have a new house and I know we didn't have fleas here. He isn't itching too bad. Now it's getting rid of the worms. |
