| can yorkies have salmon I gave Polo some salmon and chicken tonight is is okay to give salmon? will it make him sick? |

| Is it fresh salmon that you cooked yourself? If so, that's great. I home cook a liver friendly diet for Lady on one of the fish I use is salmon. You want to avoid canned salmon and the kind that comes in the little pouches because the sodium content is so high. |

| Here in the NW there is "Salmon Poisoning" dogs can get from raw or Salmon blood, I believe Trout and Steelhead also. You may want to do a goolge search on it.

| I believe cooked is ok. My DH told me just now, that it's the blood that can be toxic.

Senior Yorkie Talker | not just the blood, but there are many parasites that are in raw salmon such as anisakis simplex and tapeworms (which would be the worst). these parasites can be rare, but its always a possibility.
