| my babies aren't eating My dogs caught coccidiosis from another dog I took in a while back.. they had fine appetites, just my youngest had diarrhea and bloody stools, and then later I saw my 2 year old had solid poop with a speck of blood.. I just got done treating them a couple of days ago. Chloe (my youngest) would always eat whatever she could find, she would gobble her food down.. then go for Benji's (my oldest) food, then for the cats food. Well, yesterday she ate real slow.. and thats because I kept taking her back to her food. she didn't want to eat at all. Today she wont eat at all. Benji didn't eat any food yesterday and wont eat today either. I'm very worried... should I give them time and see if their appetite will get better or rush them to the vet? They both poop fine... Benji pooped last night, but not this morning. And Chloe pooped a little bit.. but not as much as usual. I figured its cause they haven't eaten much.

| I will give them a call tomorrow. They are drinking plenty of water.. and Chloe just ate half of her food, but not all of it.. Benji wont even touch his.. I'm against feeding them human food.. but I'm thinking of giving them a little.. so I know they have a little something in their tummy.. would that be okay? what if I pour a little yogurt over their food.. dogs like yogurt, don't they?

| Still no luck with Benji.. he hasn't eaten since Friday night. Chloe finally ate her food.. but she ate it really slow.. she usually gobbles it down.. Chloe pooped a little today (she usually poops a lot) and Ben hasn't pooped at all. I see them trying to get to each others food. Chloe eats science diet for puppies, and Benji keeps trying to get to it. And Benji eats Purina for adults, and Chloe keeps trying to eat his. But Benji wont touch his food at all. If they don't poop or start eating.. we are taking them to the vet tomorrow.. I'm so worried. We are broke.. but thank god our vet lets us charge.

| Chloe pooped a little more.. and ate some of her food as long as it was out of my hand. Benji snuck and ate Chloe's food.. but wont eat his own. Benji pooped a little bit.. and Chloe pooped a little more. I took their temperature and heart rate.. both were normal. Chloe's tummy was rumbling. Im debating whether this is something I should worry about and take them to the vet.. or if its something I should wait and see if its improved or not. If they still don't have an appetite by morning.. then I am going to get an appointment. I don't understand why it both happened to them at the same time.. I don't know if its because the weather is changing, or has something to do with their coccidiosis they had.. but when I first found out they had it.. they both had a healthy appetite then.. I don't know why it is stopping now. And Benji didn't even get diarrhea or have very much blood in his poop.

| I accidentally spilled chloes food on the floor and her and benji both ate it up.. then I put some in a bowl and Chloe ate all of it.. (slowly.. she kept walking away and coming back to it) but she ate! She also pooped. Benji also pooped this morning.. but still wont touch HIS food! They eat treats and stuff though.. I was trying to teach them the down trick while getting food in them.. and they ate the iams treats.. and I gave them each a little peice of a cheese pizza roll. I don't feed them treats a lot.. usually only when I take them outside to potty and they go.. but I really wanted to get something on their tummys.

| the good thing is that they are both eating, drinking, and going to the bathroom. I would suggest the vet. However, if that isn't a possiblity right now and you don't feel it is urgent anymore, I'd take them off of their food and give them the boiled chicken and rice (I think that is what the vet usually says, others on here will know for sure). I would continue to keep a very close eye on them since they were both infected very recently. Don't go to the human food just to get them to eat if you don't normally do it. You will upset their stomachs and have no idea what might really be causing the problem. Make sure they continue to drink water. Also, if you have Nutrical, give them some. It will be a bad sign if they get blood in their stool again, get all droopy and lathargic, or quit eating or drinking. Please keep us posted. I sure hope they are going to be just fine. |

| I'm not as concerned since they are eating a little and pooping.. so I think I'm going to wait on it a little while.. if they stop doing that then I will take them.. or if any other bad signs show up.
