| Pet Insurance There are sooooooooo many out there. I'm thinking of getting some for Lola but don't know where to start. For anyone with insurance, what company and plan do you deal with? To they pay up front or do you have to be reimbursed? What is covered and what is not? Any information is appreciated! So confusing! |

Therapy Dog Donating Member | Get it if you can afford to..I wish I had done that now it's too late with pre-existing conditions. I think VPI has the best but not sure.

| I have ASPCA, but some prefer Pet Plan. I have to pay up front, & file a claim for reimbursement.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I don't have it, but looked into and compared all of them at one time. I like Pet Plan, bc I believe it's still the only one that covers genetic/hereditary issues...as long as they're not pre-existing. So, if you had Pet Plan already - and the dog was dx w/ LP, they'd be covered according to your plan's limits. Other plans may not cover LP at all as it is usually considered hereditary.

| Hi, I was researching the same thing.... so far I liked the trupanion, it gives you a page for comparing with other pet insurance.

| I, too, am looking for pet insurance. I found this perfect one but your dog has to be under a year old and I found about about it when he was a year and two days.. I forget the name though. I'll keep an eye on this thread.

| I'm with Trupanion. They cover most hereditary conditions, injuries and illnesses, but not routine wellness visits, vaccines and similar preventative care (ie, routine dental cleanings). I figure I can easily budget for the routine things, but the bigger unexpected items are where a problem would arise. Trupanion is a Canadian company-- they operate in some areas of the States, but they aren't nationwide yet. I've posted this link once before, but here's a tool on Trupanion's site that compares different insurance plans. http://www.trupanionpetinsurance.com...omparison.aspx

♥Tiny Tia my Furbaby♥ Donating Member | I have a silver insurance for Tia. Its only £10 a month, not sure what that is in $, but it covers up to £2,500 worth of accidents. The gold pays a bit more but is double a month and you get silly extras that I wouldn't need. Peace of mind , if something bad happens then that would help out.
