| Raw food suggestions anyone? I am waiting to get my yorkie puppy . I want to start him on a good raw diet. I have seen and reserach so many brands out there. I was leaning towards Natural balance but was not too sure. I wanted to know what would you guys recommed in here please Also since he will be about 10 weeks old How much do I feed him and how many times. I know I have read 3 times a day but how much. I know I have to gradually introduce the new food to him and I would have to start with the food the breeder is currently on with him first at least the first 2 weeks. Any suggestions ??? |

| I started Sadie on Nature's Variety raw medallions for one meal and her kibble for the other. She is one and eats twice a day. She is doing great on it. They have an excellent website where they will give you info on serving size. They also sell a grain-free kibble in a couple of varieties: Prairie and Instinct. I don't use those because Sadie does well on the California Natural, so I am sticking with that. If you do a search, you'll find lots of people here who feed raw. Sadie's coat has gotten so shiny and her teeth cleaner, plus the poops are small and firm. I really recommend it! Good luck with your new baby.

| I don't have My Yorkie yet but I do feed my other dog (65 pound, mix) RAW. I feed him raw chicken in the morning (and some beef) and use Instinct kibble at night. My plan for my Yorkie is to use the Instinct kibble until she's able to eat Cornish game hens. |

| I feed a PMR diet (Prey Model Raw) and I do occassionally use Nature's Variety but very rarely. If you have any questions about PMR, I'd be happy to do my best to answer them! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I like Primal, Stella and Chewys, Nature's Variety (not the rabbit). As far as I know, the Nat Balance rolls are not raw, just a "wet food" - isn't it? For amounts to feed, I'd recommend going to NV's site and using their feeding calculator - it's a very helpful place to start from, and then feed to condition.

| Sophie was extremely picky, so I've ended up feeding her Nature's Variety Raw food. She loves it (most days). She eats twice a day and yes they do have a web site to help you decide how much to feed. I also offer her Innova puppy dry for her to snack on if she wants it. She doesn't usually take much Innova. I've had hypoglycemic issues with her so I try to always have something offered for her. Sophie was pooping twice a day when she was eating a dry/can mix, but since the raw, it's once a day and small. I do love that fact about it. |

| i like NV and primal equally. i like AFS raw food a wee bit better but it is not sold locally and shipping (since it is frozen) is really high. it cost more than the food last time (more than $40!)

| My pup is extremly picky and he loves organic raw chicken I've been feeding that since he was 3 months. He's very healthy I would recommend natures variety. I give his one piece in the morning some dry organic nibble which I mix with warm water to make it a little soft in the afternoon and then another piece of raw at dinner. |

| Primal And yes, the Natural Balance food roll is not raw, but is more of a wet food (cooked) in a slightly different composition.

| You can get Nutrical at Petsmart. I use Enercal from my vet, but it's all pretty much the same thing

| We feed Snickers Natures Variety Chicken and he loves it. It's so easy and he jumps for joy when it's time to eat breakfast! He has grainfree Innova Evo kibble in the evening and is doing very well....good luck to you, you must be SO excited!!!
