| What the heck I cannot believe this! I'm so disgusted! Lilly's been itching quite a bit lately but I just thought it was her dry skin with the weather being so icky. This morning I wake up to her itching above my head on my pillow. I wake up and move her and there was a little bit of flea dirt on my pillow. GROSS, I know. I immediately panic because fleas freak me out. I grab the Dawn, her Minksheen and some towels and head to the bathroom. Bathe her really good in the Dawn, first I made a ring around her neck then scrubbed her head then scrubbed her butt then the rest of her body... rinsed and nothing. Then, I used the Minksheen the same way, let it sit then rinsed... nothing. ?! Then I started brushing her and drying and I noticed a few little red bumps on the top of her head but didn't see any on her stomach or anything. So confused. She had her Comfortis at the beginning of January and I haven't been able to get her another pill. I'm just so sick of it... we moved back in the middle of December and I didn't think I'd have to deal with fleas again. Where the hell are they coming from? I'm very clean, I vacuum many times a week and keep her blankets and toys washed. She also gets a bath every week or two. Where could they be coming from? I don't understand how she keeps getting them yet others who let their dogs go outside and they don't get them?! Could her immune system really be that low? How can I make it better? Any advice?! Grrrr! Should I use something besides the Comfortis that will give me better results? I get so frustrated even thinking about all of the different treatments available these days. HELP

| That's really weird. Last summer when I got Piper at 10 weeks in July the vet said not to use any flea medication. If she does get fleas use the Dawn to wash her. We didn't use any flea stuff all summer and fall and there is no need to in the winter.(It's in the 20's most days). Piper has never had 1 flea and we live on the Connecticut shoreline where there is lots of sand which usually breeds fleas.

No Longer a Member | We had an infestation once from one of my family's larger dogs. We thought that bathing her and cleaning out her area would get rid of them but we ended up having to bomb our entire house. Fleas can attach themselves to your clothing and get transported all over your house and your other fabrics. If you go through the process of making sure the rest of your home doesn't have them and you still see them, then maybe switch to something else. |

| You need to do more. Flea bombs that also have IGR insect growth regulator must be used in every room. Follow the directions carefully. You need to first treat your dog and take her out of the house whille you treat the house. I haven't had fleas in the last 20 years but when we had a poodle years ago we also had shag carpeting we had a horrible flea problem. I wowed never to let this happen again. I flea comb my dogs at least every 2 days to make sure there is no sign of a problem starting |

| Been there- conquered that! Hi, I'm new to YT- my Roxy had fleas- they got in my bed. I bombed and vaccumed- they came back. I used diatomaceous earth on the carpet and vaccum bag before I re bombed. It's non toxic to animals or humans- it's used in swimming pools. They say get a different grade, however, the lady at the pool supply store told me she had dogs and used pool grade with no problems. She gave me a "scoop"- (it comes in huge bags). Also you have to get rid of the vaccum bag immediately- seal it in a plastic bag and throw it out. The diatomaceous earth is some sort of crushed sea shell. Here's the link where I got the info from. Hope it helps! Flea Prevention I also have had luck with ecalyptus oil diffusers- (if you like the scent.) |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I answered your PM. I'm not of much help at all !! But in reading your post #9 - what about Neem Oil/spray? It is now found in so many stores - I know Whole Foods carries and many premium petfood stores; I don't know about Petsmart/Co. It is an all-natural repellant/preventive.
