| My yorkie is eating her poop! Lola is 7 months old and she has started to eat her poop. The vet said it is a behavioral issue and not to be worried. Are their any suggestions on what to do for her? Her breath smells TERRIBLE! I brush her teeth daily, but it does not seem to be enough. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!: |

| bumping this for you. I know there is something you can put in their food to discourage this behavior but i'm not sure what it is. Hopefully someone will see this and help out! |

| Thanks for the info. I has heard of using pineapple but I was afraid it would upset her stomach. Did you use fresh or pineapple out of the can? |

| I just bought Solid Gold S.E.P. (Stop Eating Poop), a food supplement you mix into the dogs food to make its poop bitter. I will try it tomorrow. Btw, I have a question...Is it okay to give my 4.5 month puppy this while also giving her supplement for her coat?

♥ love my girls!! ♥ Donating Member | My Yorkie doesn't so much eat her poop as PLAY with it, scattering poop pieces all over the floor (she's pad trained, and pretty much ALWAYS uses her pad. We pick the poop up and flush it right away when we're home, but during the day when we're at work or overnight when we're sleeping---poop pieces scattered galore!) AND we tried all natural coprophagia (sp?) tablets and also sprayed her poop with bitter spray and also with vinegar and left it----none of that dissuaded her! She still plays with her poop! So first, are you sure she's eating it and not just playing with it? (Bella has eaten hers before because I saw "evidence" on her pad that it had been there but was nowhere to be found.) Also, since she's 7 mo. old she may still be teething....causes HORRIBLE breath. Bella is 5 mo. old (almost 6) and ever since she started teething it is absolutely revolting (but I have a sensitive nose anyway.) Brushing her teeth only helps for ~ a day and then....yucko! |

♥ love my girls!! ♥ Donating Member | If you give them pineapple they stop eating their poop?? Really?....that's awesome. I'd try that!! Maybe mine will stop playing with hers?! Yes, fresh or canned? And how much? I know she'd drink the juice, but I'm not sure she'd eat it....she likes to lick split open grapes, but not actually eat it! |

| Hello ! I give him canned sliced pineapple and only half after each meal, 1 slice per day. I'm very glad that is working. And I also notice that he eats better now. I read the grapes are not good for yorkies. You can google: Dangerous Yorkie Food, You'll find a lot of information. |

| Hi. I give him out of can and he loves it. Thank God ! One day i was watching the show " It's me or the Dog" and she was talking about this very bad behavior ( eating poop ), they can get really sick. So, she told the owners to give their dog a lil pineapple. She also said that they eat because smell protein and the fruit actually works the opposite. I hope that helps. |

| it happens a lot with puppies; my dog outgrew that stage. you can give a little pineapple; it should not upset her stomach; or there is a powder called forbid that you can add to the food. nothing to worry about; good luck

| Guess what? Sophie is getting pineapple tonight! She's hasn't been eating her poo, but we've been finding "poo pieces" out of the cat's litter box that she's been playing with! Yuk!! Anything to get this to stop! Thanks! |

| Thank you for this post, I have a 8 month old female and a 6 month old male and they just started eating there poop. My vet told me that it was because they smell the undigested food. I will try pineapple to see if it works. They don't have any table food but a few plain cheerios for a snack.
