| Purina & Nutro! Help! I recently questioned the quality of Purina & Nutro on a different forum and I told that Purina and Nutro are junk food for dogs. Of course I got burned for calling Purina and Nutro junk food because the vet recommended it as high quality pet food. Can you ladies please help me with the links where it states that it was a re-called food and it's very damaging to the pet's health? I would like to back it up with proof. Thank you

| Honestly, I can't put my finger on it either but I did do some reading on it. Odds are it is from their sources of protein and how long that food sets in the warehouse! If I run across it while searching the net - I'll post it for you! I use Life's Abundance - I am SOLD on it! Just let me know if you want some samples - No charge!

| Do a google search for "Nutro sick dogs" and you will pull up lots of info. Not only have they had to recall a ton of food in the past, there have been many reports of this food making dogs very sick. Here are links to FDA's website for recalls of Nutro brand foods: We're Sorry! Browse Pet Food Recalls - Dog - Nutro Max I don't know if you saw the post I posted earlier today about the recent pet food recalls by Mars which is Nutro's parent company... Although Nutro is not involved in the most recent recalls, I would not take any risks...They have a lot of quality control issues, in my opinion... August 2008 — Mars Petcare Recalls Pedigree, Nutro Suspected » SecurePet Pet Sitter, Wimberley, Texas "This company also makes Nutro pet food which has recently been blamed by consumers for a nationwide outbreak of illnesses—and deaths— of dogs and cats. However, Nutro products are not part of this recall." Also, do a search for Purina recalls. They've had recalls too... Aside from the recalls, Purina uses by-products. Google search by-products in pet foods, and you'll see why it's disgusting.

| Let me tell you a little story about purina..first of all, my golden retriever has hip dysplasia at age 3 and is on purina that the vets are only allowed to get, it's for joint mobility...Purina food has been around for years, growing up, all of our dogs were on purina, they lived from 15-19 years old..so, yeah, it may have in it what everyone considers bad, but, our dogs were always very healthy..Now I have a few of mine on the new eukanuba naturally wild, and the shepherd on eukanuba for german shepherds, and they're all doing great, and even their poop is nice and solid, to where when I was using the better foods, their poop was soft...I think whatever works for you and your pup, if your vet says it's okay then do what you want.... |

| I switched to Nutro thinking I was giving my Yorkie a good high quality food, I did not know about the recall. However, when I found out about the recall THANKS TO YORKIETALK!!! I immediately took her off, during the brief period of about 2 mths that I had her on Nutro I had to take her to the vet 3 times for diarrhea. I did not suspect the food and thought it was other problems going on at the time like stress due to boarding and infected anal glands etc. However once I stopped the Nutro the diarrhea stopped also!! I am now feeding her the Natural Balance food with no problems. THANK YOU YORKIE TALK FORUM FOR THE WARNING AND INFO |
