| Verus Dog Food Anyone using this brand?? I been feeding my 10 month old yorkie Artemis, since she was 3 months old and she no longer wants to eats it. The owner of the natural dog food store recommended Verus, it's a 3 star on the dog review site. If I keep her on Artemis will she come around after a while, or should I try something new? |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I don't think Verus looks too great - lots of grains and fillers. Plus it contains beet pulp, which is not great. If it's a natural dog food store - there should be some other good choices - what about Natures Variety Instinct - do they sell that?

| Here are the ingredients, suppose to be all natural, I didn't see the beet pulp you speak of?? What Makes VéRUS So Healthy for Your Pets? No Byproducts These are things other than meat, such as heads, feet, underdeveloped eggs, lungs, spleens, bones, blood, etc. Byproducts are poorly digested, increasing the workload on your pet’s kidneys. Kidney failure is the second major killer of older dogs. No Fillers These are cheap processed grains, such as brewers rice, ground rice, wheat flour, rye flour, etc. Processed grains are stripped of their nutritional value and these empty calories contribute to excess weight gain. No Chemical Preservatives The average dog consumes 6 to 9 pounds of chemical additives a year in their diet. Many of the chemical additives and preservatives our pets eat are not approved for human consumption. It comes as no surprise that cancer is the #1 killer of older dogs. Ingredients: Chicken Meal, Ground Oats, Ground Brown Rice, Chicken Fat (preserved with natural Mixed Tocopherols & Ascorbyl Palmitate) Lamb Meal, Rice Bran, Flaxseed, Fish Oil, Chicory Pulp, Alfalfa Meal, Dried Kelp, Natural Flavors, Salt, Yucca Schidigera Extract, Potassium Chloride, Vitamin A Acetate, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Vitamin E Supplement, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Ascorbic Acid, Riboflavin Supplement, dl-Methoinine, Niacin, Calcium Pantothenate, Choline Chloride, Folic Acid, Biotin, Thiamine Mononitrate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Sodium Selenite, Calium Iodate, Iron Amino Acid Chelate, Manganese Amino Acid Chelate, Zinc Amino Acid Chelate, Cobalt Amino Acid Chelate, Copeer Amino Acid Chelate |

Using your list - chicory pulp is MUCH better than beet pulp (*for foodies, see below ). There is still quite a bit of grain in this food - and even though it's good grain - if you look at where the meat content is on the list (1st & 5th) - I really don't think the meat content is great at all. *fibroFOS & Prebiofeed
