Doesn't canned pumpkin help with this? And just in case, is there anything else?

My holistic vet told me that pumpkin works but sweet potato works faster. Just bake or microwave one, peel it and mash it!! Hope it helps!! Good Luck!

Thank you SO MUCH! Darn it, I don't have any sweet potatoes at the moment, but ya better believe I will go to the store at almost 1:30 a.m. to get one if thats what my baby needs!

I just found this online....does it sound good/right?? (especially the milk part)???

Never withhold water from your pet as this could set her up for kidney problems and other behavioral issues. Prevent constipation by adding vegetables to her diet. Many people use a combination of cut green beans mixed with wetted dry dog food. Don't forget that exercise is a great constipation cure. Depending on the age and condition of your dog, a long walk or a vigorous game of fetch does a great job of kick-starting a sluggish bowel and will have your dog as regular as clockwork in no time. Milk will often help the constipation problem as dogs even reluctant to drink water will most often drink the milk offered. Offer a small bowlful and let her lap it up. She will initially have a runny stool but it should solve the constipation problem. Canned pumpkin in its pureed form (not pumpkin pie filling) is also a great stool softener and a natural remedy for constipation. It helps soothe an upset stomach or indigestion in both cats and dogs. It is very rich in fiber and adding just one or two teaspoonfuls to your pet's food often gets their system moving in no time. Dogs may eat it by itself and that's all right too.

Sounds right to me but I may not know what I'm talking about. I just know I've always heard milk will cause runny poop which obviously means it will help with constipation, right? Hope someone lets you know something if not, I'd try the milk.

Hahaha! Thanks girl I too have heard that milk will cause loose stools in our babies, I just didn't know if it was "ok" to let them just lap it up like that...but I guess it won't hurt if you are letting them have it just to try and get them to "go" lol

And wouldn't ya know, I ran out of MILK today So I have no milk OR sweet potatoes Looks like it's a LATE trip to the store for me, hubbs and the kiddos

I'm wondering too, how did everything go?! Did you get the poop worked out?

The last 2X Zoeybear got plugged up, I took her to the vet for a puppy enema. Im gonna try pumpkin next time because the enema is too traumatic. Hope Sted is better today.

Awww, poor little Stedman. How is he doing today? Gracie was constipated recently also. Isn't it strange when it pops up out of the blue like that? I still have no idea what brought it on. Anyway, I gave her canned pumpkin twice a day with her regular meals and she was fine after a few days. I'll remember the sweet potato if it happens again.
