| weird way of eating food.. hi all, i was wondering if anyone's else's yorkie does what i'm about to explain... when i feed Kash his canned food (merricks), i put it on a small saucer-sized plate, and place it on the floor for him to eat... WELL, he won't eat it unless the plate is placed in just the right position on the floor!! he just stands about a foot away from the plate, and stares at it until i shift it a little to the right or left or spin the plate around so that the food is closer to him... and then, i have to sit there and watch him eat because once he's eaten the food around the edges, he'll stop until i push the food in the center back over to the edge of the plate! he's so weird! lol. i don't know why he's so picky about where the food is in relation to his body. i know yorkies are very picky about WHAT they eat, but is anyone else's yorkie THIS picky about the location of the food? thanks!

| My yorkie does a similar thing. Pippin refuses to eat his food unless it is on the floor! I have tied different containers hoping that he will like one of them, but he still won't eat his food out of them. I mean, I can let it sit there for about an hour and eventually he will creep up to it and eat a few pieces. However, he has recently discovered how flip his dish over and spill it on the floor. Of course now the food is totally fine to him and he will gobble it right up! Pippin sure is strange, he is too good to pee outside, but will only eat food off the floor.

| well that is weird but mine is also weird, she doesnt eat alone. i need to sit her on my lap n put the plate of food literally righttttttttttttt in front of her mouth so all she has to do is stick her neck out dig in. n then she wont even eat it all like that. wen shes done eating by herself i have to put little pieces on my finger n then she licks it off. wen she doesnt want that, i have to put the food in her mouth myself (as in open her mouth n stick the food in there). wen she's completely done then she will shake her head away from me as if sayin thats it!!!! n if i give her snack during the day, we have to go to the living room so she can lay on the little carpet n crunch away. believe me u dont have it that bad lol |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Picky Pups Pongo my 12 yr old Dashund will only eat on the rug. Needless to say I shampoo alot. He take the food in his mouth over to the rug, sets it down exams it , and then eats itI'm hoping Aiden does not pick up on this little habbit. Aiden has a ceramic water bowl, but I put his food in a plastic bowl, when he's done he carries it over to me

| We used to give Tucker canned food. When I put it on the floor, he would inhale it in about two bites! Now he only gets dry....he eats it one piece at a time. He will only eat if I'm in the kitchen and he takes one kibble out and lays it on the rug. Then he picks it up and chews it. Takes the next kibble out and does the same thing. It can take him all day to eat a bowl of food!

| I have to sit with Abby to eat or else she wont eat. I place the food on the place mat and she munches away but she is constintly looking behind her to see if i am sitting there watching her. and when she doesnt eat all of it i have to throw pieces on the floor until she is all done. and i also have to push everything in the middle in the middle of her eating cause if not she wont eat it.

WOW I cant beleive... Hope will not eat on a plate, bowl, dish, anything! It MUST be on the floor and most times I have to sit there and put it on the floor piece by piece(I know its my fault)... I even took one of those thin plastic cutting board thingies and cut a little square out so she would THINK it was actually on the floor.. no go.... so, she eats off the floor.. silly little babies! d

| My Willy had to eat his food off the floor too. He would paw the food out of his dish onto the floor though. He also sorted through it. If there were pieces he didn't like, he would fling them across the kitchen floor. He also was picky about the placement of the dishes. His food had to be to the right of his water dish or he would stand there and whine. That was a hard thing to figure out at first! I couldn't figure out what the problem was. |

| These stories are hilarious! Luckily, Chewie isnt too picky about anything right now. It may be because he's still little. It sounds like Yorkies may have a touch of OCD when it comes to eating. Definitely something I'm going to Google, LOL!

| I had to post the picture of Willy after he sorted through his food. These are the pieces that didn't meet his standards (I guess :-) |
