| Vaccine questions Hi all, The talk of vaccines came up and I thought Id ask a question ... I had my boys go through 4 rounds of distemper shots, one before I got them (I think at 8 weeks they got them) and the next at 12 weeks and the last at 3 months, then again at about 15 months old (they got rabies with that one). About 2 hours after the last set of shots, one of my boys had an allergic reaction. I have read about vaccines and overvaccination and although they are up to date on rabies, I have not done anymore vaccines since they were 15 months old (no parvo/distemper and I opted out of the lymes vaccines at my vets suggestion that I not get it for dogs so small). They are now 31 months old, so 16 months has passed with no shots at all. Im afriad to get any more vaccines with them. Is it ok that they do not get any other vaccines except rabies? thanks!

| I don't think I would get anymore vaccines aside from rabies.. Many vets (in personal conversations- not usually in a professional atmosphere) will say the pet is immune to everything after their initial shots. You must continue with your rabies shot in case the dog ever bites anyone. If they aren't up to date on rabies vaccine they will most likely be put to sleep. I have a paper written by a veterinarian on e-mail regarding the subject. If you would like me to forward you a copy, PM me.
