Mia's nose is turning colors???? I just noticed that the tip of Mia's NOSE - not the snout hair - is partially brown, not black. Is this normal? Could she have rubbed it on something and done this - she's ALWAYS sniffing! TIA

Some dogs, I don't know about yorkies, noses turn brown/pinkish during winter and turn black again during summer. I know my doxie does every year. Cyndie and Trevor

Mia's dishes are ceramic of some type. I also noticed that a couple of spots on her paw pads look like the black is worn off a little. strange!

My friends yorkie Toby's nose has gone brown on the end too. She doesn't know why. I would be interested in knowing if anyone finds out.

Some dogs have some kind of allergy to plastic plates. That's what happened to my chihuahua, he has a "faded" nose..hehehe SInce their plates are not plastics...it has to be something with their pigmentation, maybe the weather?!?!?!?! Look for any other spots on their bodies, it is always a good choice to inquire with the vet what could be causing it...

| It's called "Snow Nose". Toto's did that and our breeder said that's what it's called. It is the pigmentation and usually happens when they aren't exposed to the sun! I looked it up online and wasn't satisfied with everything I read there. We have an appointment for Toto on Friday down in Denver with a vet and that's on my list of things for her to check! I want to make sure that there is no underlying medical cause ... we are also having her checked for liver, trachea, thyroid, kidneys, etc. Since we will be there and they have a great new facility, we decided it would be a perfect opportunity to put our minds at rest about all the mysterious things that can happen to our babies! I think most of it can be checked through bloodwork ... possibly a CAT scan. Will let you know what we learn about "Snow Nose"!
