| my new puppy shakes alot and won't eat Hello all. I need help. I just got my Abby two days ago. I can tell she's still very nervous. She shakes ALOT. She shakes in her cage when i move her from the living room to my room n vice versa. She shakes the first couple of minutes i pick her up n then stops. Another big concern is that she doesn't eat. She doesn't like the pebbles or the wet food. She basically tastes the food and licks it but then thats it!!! Im really concerned..... She has only peed twice and only pooped ONCE. It's been about 48 hrs since i got her. Is that normal? Please help because im ready to pull my hair out. Is this normal or not? We went to the vet yesterday and he said her temp and everything seemed fine. |

| Hi! Welcome to YT! Okay, first...do you know about hypoglycemia? Have you given her any Karo syrup or nutrical? Have you called the breeder for advice?

| Hi, and welcome to YT. Your baby is probably just very anxious...everything is new to her. I agree w/Judy's comment on Nutrical or Karo Syrup. Check her gums to make sure they're a healthy pink. White gums can indicate low blood sugar. Hope she makes the adjustment shortly...you're going to be so in love with her! |

| You might also see if she's cold. Gizmo will shake when he's cold, even now at 7.5 lbs and a year old. When I first got Gizmo I would carry him around with me everywhere. I even made a little sling. So, cuddle her as much as you can. I know it's tough, but someone has to do it!

| Hi Jessi. I see you are in NJ. I'm a Jersey girl too How old is your Yorkie and where did you get her from? It's somewhat normal for her to shake due to a new environment etc. but as others have said you have to watch her blood sugar. How much does she weigh? For the first year you have to watch for Hyperglycemia. Nutrical is something you should have on hand and take with you wherever you go with her, especially if she is not eating. Also, if she's young (too young) 8 weeks (Sometimes even 10 weeks) or younger the dry food may be too rough for her to eat. Try some boiled chopped up chicken and see if she'll eat it. This will atleast get some food in her tummy. Have you had her to the vet yet? I'm not sure where you're at but I'm in S. Jersey and if I can help you in anyway, please let me know. Elaine |

| hello, thank you. Yes, i do know about it. I was given syrup and other liquid vitamin thingies to give her. Her tongue and gums r normal pink. I'm just concerned because i give her the medicine but she doesn't reallt eat. I know she doesn't like two of them because she always shakes her head n kinda goes "wahhh" like we do wen we dont like something. Twice she has spit it back up, BUT NOT ALOT OF IT. I'm just concerned cuz she doesn't eat but she throws up a VERY little bit of the medicine. I just wish that she would eat more cuz she really doesn't eat much. She's only 2lbs 1oz and the vet said her stomach can't hold much anyway cuz wen he was examining her, he checked her stomach n then she spit up a little bit. He said her stomach is so small it can't hold much anyway. He even gave me the fecal tube so they could check for parasite but she hasn't pooped since.... Im just really depressed and worried |

| Oh sweetie, hugs! It'll be okay. Have you tried the chicken? I haven't seen many pups turn that down. What food are you giving her? And usually the vet does the fecal at the office. I have no idea why he/she sent you home to do it.

| Sounds like your baby is just nervous... And that's common with these little guys. Its something that she has to grow out of... As far as eating... Meka was like that at first. I'd put the food in her bowl and she'd lick and smell it but not eat.. Then I tried putting a few kibble in my hand and she would eat it. Thats how I had to get her to eat when she was that way. But, also.... I was feeding her bad food, Eukanuba and Iams is what I had started her on (per the breeder ) But, then I found YT and switching her to the more natural brand, really helped out... Good luck

| They gave it to me to do it at home cuz she didnt poop at the vet's. The first day, she pooped at like 1am, so we thought she might do the same yesterday. But she didn't. |

| Try giveing her a little yorgurt plan or vanllia. Just a teaspoon then mix it in her food. You might try some of the can food or try putting some warm water and honey (just a few drops) in it. Some time the new world is a big place for a small dog. Gook Luck |

| This isn't normal. She needs to pee more at least. I don't know why the vet sent her home. You will have to force the Nutrical but she needs food also. Could you force about 1/4-1/2 tablespoon of canned every little bit (or did they say anything about giving PediaSure?). I'd be very concerned about hypoglycemic shock. She could be shaky because she is nervous or because of her sugar but does she still shake after she eats?

| I just know I'm going to get fried for this, but when we got Lexie I didn't have YT and she wouldn't eat so I freaked out! I gave her a lick of honey off my finger and finally caved and bought her some Ceasar meals and mixed it with her kibble. She ate it right up! She was a shaky thing too when I got her but now only shakes when she's cold or when she knows she's about to get a shot. Ceasar meals have been equivalent to Happy Meals for dogs, but at the time she ate and I breathed easier because she wasn't starving. Good luck! |

| they told me to give her 2mm of syrup twice a day for ten days. plus i also have this tube which is a very thick syrupy texture(they said it was syrup) which she gets two fingertips full three times a day. im not too concerned about her sugar cuz i no shes getting plenty of it. im just concerned cuz she won't eat. i bought her hill science diet (which is wat the vet suggested) but still wont eat. about the pee, she only did it once yesterday but it is alottt (make a circle by joining ur middle fingers n thumbs together). the shaking has gone down alot tho, since we got her on sunday. I think its just nerves but i want her to eat more. believe me, we put the heat up in the house too in case it was that. |

| Maybe she's just taking a while to adjust to her new home and surroundings. Would it help if you put a little food in the palm of your hand? Maybe she will eat it that way? Good luck |
