| My babies are throwing up the NV Lamb! What should I DO? I switched Dior and Diezel from Canidae Dry to NV Raw. It has been a week since the switch and they love it. My only concern is that, the morning after day 1 of the switch, Dior threw up a little but seems to be fine since then. Diezel on the other hand, threw up on day 2 of the switch, day 3 and this morning. Should I take him off the raw or hold out a little longer? They are currently on NV Lamb. Thanks in advance.

| I switched Jamie to NV Medallions on Wednesday and he is eating the lamb too. The first morning I gave it to him at 6 am when he had just woken up and while he didn't throw up he did gag a little. I think it may have been because he ate it so fast when he first woke up on an empty stomach and the food was refridgerator cold. So the next morning I gave him some water and about 30 minutes to wake up and he was fine. I don't know if thats whats going on with your baby but I hope he feels better.

| When I was feeding NV, I tried the lamb and only one or two of my dogs would touch it. I used the beef and chicken instead and they did great on those. |

| some dogs can have sensitive stomachs and react to certain kinds of meat. If the lamb is not working for the one dog try switching to one of the other meat medellions that NV has ( they make beef ,chicken ,venison, lamb and I think rabbit, although the stores in my area don't carry the rabbit)Dont give up on the raw just yet. Both my dogs do great on the raw and eat all the varieties without any problems , but Tia my tzu cross has a sensitive stomach to certain brands of kibble and will throw up, so I know what you are going through ! Hang in there! Eileen |

| if my dogs were throwing up and I was sure it was the food, there would be no question. They would be put back on their old food immediately. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hmmm....it seems a bit more common to see a bit of protracted diarrhea during a switch (though my guys didn't have any issues), but 3 days of vomitting the food back is kind of odd. Do you think it may be worth trying venison? Another good thing to do is buy some canned (or fresh) white potatoes, mash a bunch, keep in fridge. Serve a good heaping tablespoon of the taters WITH their food. Carbs can soothe the tummy, help soak up nauseous juices, and may slow down their "gulping". Also, you are breaking the medallions apart right? So just mix in good w/ the taters and that might help.

Oh yes, I pull it apart. He is a gulper, I think thats part of the reason. Thanks for the suggestion. I will keep that in mind.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Rabbit is good - but just know that it is the most "pungent" or "gamey" of the bunch - so dogs seem to either love it or hate it. If they do love it, it is def. a very good meat. But no big deal if you'd rather they didn't have pork, like their Mummy!

| Sorry they aren't doing well on it, but I'm not an expert on raw food.

| I have had both my girls on NV for over a year. I usually rotate every few months between raw and canned with dry for variety. NV Rep said all their foods were formulated to do that. Last week I had switched them back to the raw beef medallions and they were both throwing up sick for a couple of days. I put them immediately back on the canned and dry, giving them both some anti nausea meds. It took both a couple of days to feel good again. I emailed NV about the raw beef and have not heard back. I was wondering if they had changed their formulas? This has never happened before. I will not be giving them raw again for a while.

| I just switched to Nature's Variety a month ago. I too started with the lamb. Murphy had the same reaction. Getting sick a little and burping a lot. I did not finish the bag and switched to Venison. He did fine with venison. I also bought a trial bag of chicken and turkey. He liked it and had no reaction. Today, I tried rabbit. He would not eat it. He kept picking it up and tried hiding the pieces. I gave him Venison and he was happy. So, I would switch and try another variety.
