| Thanks to you all ! Well I have been coming here a couple of months and reading all the posts about yorkies with digestive problems and I took a lot of your advice. I am so happy to say my yorkie has put on about 2 lbs and now weighs about 6 lbs and he is so healthy looking. He has not been sick a single time since I took advice I read here and changed his diet. I have spent so much on vet bills and have worried my own self sick countless times over my little guys problems and his anorexia. He hasn't refused a meal in 2 months! He is actually excited over his meals now and enjoys eating. I owe this all to you wonderful people here. Thank you thank you so very much. P.S. Danny thanks you too :-) |

| It is kinda long....sorry This is a recipe I found here, IHi Dr. Spiezio, I have been feeding Taylor Royal Canin Yorkshire dry food and even though it hasn't been recalled I decided to cook for him. I was given this recipe by Ruth Steiner who heads up the Yorkie Play group here in Sarasota and used to own "Max's Dog Bakery". Taylor has done well on it but I just wondered if you could look at the ingredients and let me know if there is anything you might be concerned about if he eats this long-term. We will be leaving for Chicago and will return in September. 1 lb. ground turkey 1 lb. lean ground beef 3 cups of millet (which I've only found at Whole Foods) I soak it before cooking to soften it) 4 1/2 cups water 4 1/2 cups low sodium chicken broth Carrots, Celery, Zucchini chopped that combined equal 2 cups total Tiny sprinkle of garlic powder Brown meat Add Millet, water and broth Simmer Add vegetables at the end for another 5 minutes Let cool....then it can be frozen in containers Each day Taylor (12 lb Yorkie) eats about 1 1/2 cups with 1 PetMeds Super VitaChew broken up in it. I hate to bother you with this but just wanted to check to see if there is anything I should change. Thanks so much, Jim Spiezio Date: 05/18/07 19:07:49 To: Gayle Subject: Re: Dog Food Question Hi, Please do not think you are bothering me with questions. I am your dogs Dr. & part of my responsibilty is to help you take good care of him so when in doubt PLEASE feel free to call or e-mail me. I think that the diet is probably better then any thing that you will find in any pet food. All the ingredients are good quality and you are feeding a vitamin so that covers all your bases. I think it is safe and probably healthier then any thing from a pet company. So keep right on feeding that diet. Have a safe and happy summer! Dr. S am putting the entire post here because I feel it is only right to give credit to this wonderful person for sharing. I feed this to Danny in the evening about a half cup and I sprinkle a fourth of a teaspoon of Prozyme on it. Every morning I give him about a fourth cup Natural Balance Turkey Roll again with the Prozyme. I keep dry kibble down all day for him too, usually Royal Canin Yorkshire, not that I think the Royal Canin is that great but Danny sure does, I tried to switch him to California Naturals but he won't touch it and I tried all my tricks like slowly adding it to the Royal Canin, mixing it in wet food, sprinkling dried liver treat on it, nothing worked. I also do not give him any treats with preservitives. If this helps anyone I would love to hear. I make sure I wash his water and kibble dishes daily with hot soapy water. Danny's breath used to smell awful and now he just has nice doggie breath. |
