| Difference between Modified, Cotton, and Soft Can someone please tell me the difference between these three coats?? I'v been reading bits and pieces throughout YT threads about it, but I'm still confused . If you have a yorkie with Modified, Cotton, or Soft can you please post pictures of them and say which coat they have? I know my girls coats are not silky, but know its figuring out which coat they have between the three cotton's. Also, for those of you that do have the cotton type coats what shampoo did you find that helps their coats the best??? Thanks for ALL replies in advance

| I can't speak for the other's but Buddy has a silky coat. It is very straight and soooooooooo silky to the touch. It does not tangle and is always cool to the touch. Sorry can't post pics at this time however you can check his coat out in photo gallery. In my avatar his coat is just starting to grow. |

Thank you for posting pics........I LOVE your girls. Where have you been hiding eh?!? I am of no help, I would be guessing their coats too but Candee looks silk and Lola possibly modified or cotton. Why does this have to be so difficult with this breed

Now I don't think Candee is silk because she feels really soft and is fluffy I thought silky was thin shinny hair. Tell me about it I don't know why yorkies coats are so confusing, I cannot figure their coats out for the life of me, LOL, I guess I may have to go to a dog show and ask an exhibitor there and hopefully they will help me out

Let's make it easy........who cares what coat they have They are so stinken adorable!!!! Yes, an exhibitor (in person) would be your best bet........ OR You can bring them over to MY house and I'll take a peek (promise to give them back ) Let me see..........Bobbi is a silk like Buddy above. His eyes reflect green with a flashlight or camera flash His hair feels like satin sheets to me It's cool to the touch even in the sun It does not matt It's super thin....I mean he's a few strands from baldness (just kidding) His hair has a natural shine. If you add a finisher spray he looks greasy His feet are 'clean' they don't look like what some refer to "bedroom slippers" (usually a sign of cotton coats). I don't know what you mean by "soft". Bobbi feels soft to me.......but he's not a cotton coat. (see, here we go again with the confusion )

Okay, lets say fluffy and soft is a cotton or modified and soft and thin is a silky Your baby has beautiful hair, looks silky to me , mine don't look like that at all, maybe I should try switching shampoo's

| My Summer had hair like Candees I could never figure out what type of coat it was. It was really soft, but it was thick and it was a little silky, but she did not have a silky coat. It looks the same though she was the same colors it was cottony. I would say it was between cottony and silky. Abigail has silky hair but hers isn't as silky as my Lola. Abigails breaks really easy and grows very very slow. Lola on the hand does have the silky coat she is very light silver her is soo silky. Abigail is silver but not as light as Lola, the picture in my avator is Abigail. Lola's eyes reflect green all the time.
