| Bad first cut at groomers Hi, I'm new to Yorkie Talk! I took my 20 week old puppy to the groomers but he came back looking like a totally different dog I chose this grooming pace because whenever I would stop by this spot to pick up supplies, I see a lot of people dropping off and picking up their dogs, so I figured they must be good. I asked the groomer for a trim and keep the hair around my pup's face out of his eyes. I think she cut and trimmed too much around his face, he does not look like a puppy anymore. I still love my pup of course but its a shame that he's only 20 weeks old but looks like he's 10 years old! I was just wondering if it's possible to get his puppy face back? How long will it take his hair around the face and head to grow back? What should I tell the new groomer (I will not go back to the same one of course) on how to cut around his face next time? I included before/after pics below, any advice is appreciated! |

| Aww sorry you didn't like his first cut. Draco is 6months andI haven't gotten him trimed out of fear but also because I want his coat kinda long. But your baby still looks like super cute fluffy pup to me. =) I'm not sure how long it'll take to grow back, but feel like Draco's had grows faster than anywhere else on his body. I've trimmed his ears only did his noes/eyes once and both seemed to grow back pretty fast like a month I'd say. Good luck with your pup, he's so adorable almost looks like he's smiling in his second pic with the cut, maybe he likes it.

| Could not speak I will never forget the moment I saw my Scarlet after her first grooming. I actually was speechless and my friends will tell you that does not happen often. People would stop and tell me they loved my Chihuahua! It was awful! I asked my friends, checked references and did everything I could think of before I took her to a groomer. I believe now you just have to try them and hope for the best. I took a grooming class so I am able to do touch ups and emergency grooming in between appointments. |

| It seems like each dogs hair grows at a different rate. I started a thread not too long ago and one person said their dogs coat was down to the ground at 9 months, where other people said theirs hadn't reached the ground at 2 years. It's the same way with my 2 boys...I wouldn't even know Ricky's hair was growing if I couldn't see the hair growing back around his eyes(the lady at the rescue I got him from cut it and I am growing it out)...but I have to shave Princeton's back every 2 weeks or he looks like a furball. He's an old man, so I keep his hair trimmed shorter so it's easier on him. |

| He actually looks super cute. At least she didn't shave him naked like it seems a lot of groomers like to do. She actually did the perfect first haircut. It's very normal for a yorkie to look completely different, it's sad, but it's going to happen sooner or later. They are often silver on their head for a bit. Jackson looked totally different after his first cut too. Here he is growing up- 12 weeks first haircut 6 months and what he looks like now

| Thank you for posting the pics! Jackson is so handsome. I was wondering how my Teddy would look as he gets older because he is at the awkward stage now with the white/grey hair on top. He looked just like Jackson's 12 weeks pic. Your pics gave me a better idea of what to look forward to. Thanks again! |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | I think he looks adorable! They do look so grown up after that first cut. I cried after both Rhett and Scarlett's first cuts. Neither one looked like the same dog to me. In hindsight, they both still looked cute, but there was a miscommunication between what I told them and what I expected. I've found it helps to take in pictures that I like so we are on the same page.

| I hated Deuce's first haircut then I decided to do it myself. I grew out his face and never cut his nose hair again!!! My post is on Grooming talk somewhere about growing out the nose hair. But you have to be patient.

| Your baby is still really cute, and the hair will grow back quickly. I had the same thing happen to Cooper the last week in May -- the groomer cut off his top knot and shaved him to within an inch of his life. I literally cried when I saw him. Long story short, it's now three months later, and his hair is once again in a top knot, and his face and body are filling in and he looks like a teddy bear again.
