| Grooming a puppy - day and long term questions! Hi!! Well I have to first thank all of you knowledgable people on this forum. I have been reading many posts on questions I have had on taking care of my first Yorkie. I was most upset when I picked up Ozzy and found out that he really shouldn't leave mom and his littermates until 12 weeks of age (I got him a few days past 8 weeks) I have been allowing my older dogs to help with the socialization...and most of all my Sphynx cats have been incredible! They tumble and play and when he gets too rough, they haul off and bite him! He has learned a lot from them.... So here is my grooming questions... Every night since I got him I have taken a brush and just lightly brushed his coat. OH HOW HE HATES IT!! I mean this guy fights me to no end. I do not have a pin brush and need to get one... so question #1 which is the best brush to get for my little man Question #2 At what age will he figure out momma is going to brush his hair and teeth no matter what? Question #3 - the breeder shaved his little bottom to keep it cleaner - which clippers do you all recommend? (if I can get him to hold still - ha ha!! Thanks in advance! Karen |

| Welcome to YT!! And congratulations on your new baby! 1. My favorite pin brush is the Madan. If you go to the Yorkie Products for Sale forum there will be threads by YT member Mimimomo. She is a truly terrific vendor who sells Madan products for very reasonable prices. She has a new website but I can't recall it right now. Nother good brand is Chris Christenson - you can google the name for their website. These are a little more expensive but some prefer them over the Madan. 2. I think that varies a lot by pup - some are just more stubborn than others. Keep at it and he'll adjust soon. 3. If you just need clippers for his bottom, the pads of his feet, etc., I highly recommend the cordless Wahl Peanut clipper. It's very small, portable, yet plenty powerful. This is a very small clipper, it's not meant to groom the entire body. I got mine from ebay. Good luck!! Can't wait to see pics of your baby.
