| puppy cut Hi all, this is my first post. i have two yorkies and have decided to do my own grooming for financial reasons. I keep Zoe in a puppy cut because she has enough hair for four dogs! When she comes back from the groomer, her body hair is about 3/4 to one inch long and perfectly even, looks like fake fur. Very pretty. I have the Oster Golden A5 trimmer. What attachment do I need to get that look? Or do I need to do a ton of scissor work to achieve that? Thanks! |

| Does she have a cotton coat or silky? That effects how the blade cuts the hair. Cottony coats look better with the puppy cut than silky coats do, because of the way the hair lays, etc. You might like a #3 3/4 FC, a #4 FC, or a #5 FC blade. Or a quicker way to find out is just call the groomer and ask what blade she uses. That would save the guess work. You brush the hair against the grain and shave the direction the hair grows. There's a little more to it than that, but it's hard for me to explain. Shave from the base of the head to the tail and when you get to the sides, shave down at an angle (curved). I neaten up the legs with scissors, trim with the blades pointing down. Hope this makes sense. Let me know if I need to clarify anything.
