| 2009 Barking Beauty Pageant I got this from a friend at Yorkie Nation meet up group: READ should be FUN! The 2009 Barking Beauty Pageant has been scheduled for March 22 at the Richmond Shepard Theatre, 309 E 26th St. Contestants enter at 3:00 pm and spectators at 4:00 pm. Web site with details and tickets The fee is $50 for contestants and $15 for audience members. Only 25 dogs will be able to enter this year, so register early! I AM HOPING THAT SOME YORKIES WILL ENTER THIS CONTEST . . . AND WIN!! I participated last year with Cubby and was somewhat disappointed. Jilli Dog, the very talented and famous Yorkie, was a finalist and did not win because there were not enough Yorkie owners in the audience to cheer her on to victory. The "winner" is chosen by audience participation. A Chihuahua (or Chihuahua mix) has won this contest every year . . . I will give you a few tips on each category: ActiveWear: Your pooch needs to show some personality! Do not dress your pooch so he/she is not able to move. Make sure he/she is comfortable and can show some personality. The winner of this category last year wore an inexpensive cheerleader outfit. GlamourWear: Again - your dog needs to show some personality! Last year they were looking for somewhat "tacky" designs -- meaning feathers! And vibrant colors. Some people spent hundreds of dollars on these outfits, but you do not need to do that to win! Make sure your dog is comfortable and add some bling -- shiny objects, feathers, beads, etc. The winner last year purchased the dress on ebay. Talent: Keep it simple! Can your pup jump into her carrier with a signal? That is a trick! Can your pup jump through a hoop? Or bark on cue? Jilli Dog did win this category last year. If we do get some Yorkies to enter, I hope we can get a huge Yorkie audience to cheer! Please let me know if you have any questions. PLEASE REPLY TO ME IF YOU HAVE REGISTERED FOR THE CONTEST SO WE CAN TRY TO GET A GOOD AUDIENCE TURNOUT! Thanks!

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | aw this is such a cute idea. i'd love to enter morgan but i doubt she'd be able to do all her tricks on stage. she'd rather go up to everyone in the audience instead. when others are around she becomes deaf to mommy's commands and just wants to love on everyone else.
