| Nj Puppy Mills For those of you looking in or around New Jersey for your puppy. I've included a link to the NJCAPSA Site - Consumers Against Pet Shop Abuse. They list MANY New Jersey Breeders/Brokers to stay away from. Below is the Link and then I've also copy and pasted NJ Breeders/Brokers listed on the site. http://www.njcapsa.org/ Below some New Jersey Brokers/BYB/Mills Mentioned DIVA PUP - DIVA PUP - Gone or just in hiding? Looks like Diva Pup owner Elizabeth Mandarino of Bedminster, NJ has disabled her virtual puppy mill website but we are still receiving complaints against this puppy mill broker. Click herefor our page on Diva Pup, with updates coming soon. (LINK To complaints about DIVA PUP) http://www.njcapsa.org/index.php?opt...d=32&Itemid=61 Below more names mentioned. Allan Levine - multiple breeds, Millstone Township, Monmouth County; uses several phone numbers to sell dogs through local papers and on the Internet. Kim Russo -Playhouse PuppiesandBulldogsUsa.com- Bergen County. Eastern European dog importer (Bulldogs) and broker of mulitple breeds. Also advertises on PuppyFind.com under The Perfect Pup and Northern NJ Labradors Donna M. Roberts - Havanese broker/breeder, Shamong, Burlington County. Does business under the name Shady Oak Havanese. Roberts was recently CONVICTED under state cruelty statutes for selling sick puppies. Read more about her and the case on ourDealers & Brokerspage. Brenda & Evan Moncreiff -Bulldog RavineRussian dog importers. Clickhereto go directly to the page on our website. They also have a new website calledHeavenly French Bulldogs. William 'Bill' Roberts - multiple breeds; buys exclusively from PA puppy millers (Nathan Myer, David Zook, and others) and sells the puppies out of his car, charging a $15 'delivery fee'. Roberts has a female accomplice and operates out of Gloucester and other South Jersey counties. Uses the cell phone numbers 609-685-0208 and 856-207-1974, advertises in the Philadelphia Inquirer and many other local papers, describing the puppies as 'cute lil dustmops'. Roberts says he's been a breeder 'for over 20 years' but he is a broker of sickly puppies bred in Amish & Mennonite puppy mills. Consider yourself duly warned! Please call the NJ SPCA if you encounter this seller. |

| Another one... http://distinctionacres.com/index.html AKA Joy Yard - Howell Township NJ Noel came from this breeder. She is a 17 pound mixed breed that was sold as a pure bred Yorkie. This place is FILTHY. It took two weeks to get the stench out of Noel. It is my understanding that she not only breeds but also buys from the Amish and sells as her own. Don't let the pictures on her site fool you. If you buy from her what you will get is a dog with parasites, genetic problems and possibly not even a pure bred and you can bet it will take weeks to get the smell off of them. The smell is so bad you will have to drive with the windows down. She often advertises in the Asbury Park Press. |

| people need to know It took me months to find a breeder. I looked online and then went to the Yorkshire terrier Clubs. Don't go out and think your going to get a dog the same day or month. It takes time to find a good breeder that is also looking out for the dogs that he or she is selling. The breeder I bought my guy from won't sell to people that have small children. I came in contact with brokers that sent me photos of the puppies just so I would fall in love with them. I wont buy it. |

All dogs are owned, bred, and whelped by me on my property. I never buy from the Amish or puppy mills. As to your "FILTHY" comment. I am a licensed breeder with the state of NJ and love my animals, the majority of my time is spent taking care of my animals, leaving me little time to clean my house as much as I would like. Anyone who bathes a dog correctly would know it should no longer have a bad smell after being bathed and dried. All puppies are vet checked and go with health certificates. They are up to date with shots. To anyone who is considering purchasing a puppy from me, A can give you a long list of references. Sincerely, Joy Yard

"Anyone who bathes a dog correctly would know it should no longer have a bad smell after being bathed and dried." The issue is not how I bathed the dog, but rather If the dogs were as well taken care of as what you say then there would be no stench on the puppies to begin with. In the past you have never shown your parents or where they live Interesting. When people come to see your pups, you bring the pup to them from an area they are not allowed into. The parents are never present. This is how it was four years ago, has that changed now? As far as being a licensed breeder, that means nothing. That just means that you have enough breeding dogs that the state requires you to be licensed. And all of us know what the state requires in care and treatment of breeding dogs. This is all I will say.

| There are dog auctions throughout the US.. The Amish (Pennsylvania) have some of the worst puppy mills situations.

| VERY pleased with Distinction Acres I find jrsygal37 post to be in complete contradiction to what I have experienced. I have been buying puppies from Joy Yard, of Distinction Acres, for 30 (YES 30) years, since I have been a child, and NOT ONCE did I experience a problem with (a) the health of the puppy or (b) them not being purebreds. I have been using the same vet, all those years and can back my claims up with my Veterinarian. Not only did he and his staff, find ALL of my dogs (both collies and yorkies) extremely lovable, well mannered and extremely well tempered, but healthy as can be. I am OFTEN asked for Ms. Yard's phone number, from friends and neighbors. I had purchased most of my dogs, strictly as pets, had bred two of my collies, and was told, once again, by my Veterinarian, my dogs were of show quality and I should consider showing them or one of their puppies in the future. ANYTIME one of my puppies had as much as a cold, Ms. Yard, was ALWAYS available for advice. We presently have a 2 yr old GORGEOUS yorkie that we had purchased from Ms. Yard, and plan on purchasing another. This family will ONLY purchase puppies from Distinction Acres!! |

| Admin please close this thread. Admin. I opened this thread back in 2008 to try and help those looking for pups. I linked resources for those looking. Someone came on and defended themselves which is fine. She said what she said and I said what I said. Now we have newbies coming on out of the woodwork. I don't want the discussion to get out of hand so please just close the thread out and let anyone interested in a pup go and decide for themselves. Thanks. |

My daughter got a beautiful little female yorkie from Joy yard in January. She was in perfect health and the vet said she was a good, well bred puppy. She is now 8 months old, 61/2 pounds and one of the best looking purebred yorkies I've ever seen. She's extremely bright, was a breeze to housebreak, has a wonderful temprament, and no health problems. My daughter and her husband adore her. By the way, I went with my son-in- law to pick the puppy out because she was a surprise for my daughter.Joy's house may not be perfect, but just talk to her and you'll know she loves her dogs and is a responsible breeder. Would you rather fall for the sweet picture online and buy a puppy that will be shipped across country from a kennel pictured on a website that looks wonderful but doesnt really exsist? I've had two friends do this and each time thet got sick puppies who had emotional and behavior problems. The American Kennel Club is adamently against online sales.
