| Taking Jake camping This will be his first camping trip, but I know he will enjoy it because he loves being outdoors. We're taking his food, bottled water, clothes, blankets, chair, toys, treats, crate.....the normal things that he will need. Is there anything else I'm not thinking of?

| bring a longer rope to tie him up during the day. and be careful at night, don't let him out of your sight. whenever we go, we're always careful, because if mika sees anything, she goes crazy and starts chasing it. 2 weeks ago, we didn't bring her with us, and there was a bear. i can only imagine if she was there, what could have happened to her

| Maybe an x-pen? We don't camp without an x-pen or two. It really works well! They don't like to be tied up at the campground.... but don't leave them unattended. ALSO don't forget some 1st aid items!!!!!! (for you AND your Yorkie!!)

| Someone on here suggested taking liquid Benadryl for babies in case of bee stings. I now include this when taking my babies camping. Teddy got stung once while camping and I wish we had known about Benadryl. We have some little mesh doggie cots that we always take. It keeps them off the ground and the mesh allows ventilation under them when it is hot. They love laying in them.

| Higgins was a full-timer! Higgins grew up in campgrounds because we lived in a fifth wheel and travelled all over. We recently settled down in a house, but then bought a small motorhome to get away now and then. Sounds like you are pretty well prepared, but thought I would add the following: Take a complete health record showing all shots. Make sure they are up to date. Many campgrounds require this. Also take any meds, such as heartworm and flea/tick preventatives. We take two leashes so there is one on each side door pocket. Easier. IMPORTANT: Please be a good camper and take plastic bags to pick up the poop! Make sure that he has a tag identifying him. Higgins has his name and our cell phone number on it. He is also chipped. If your dog is a puppy or tiny one, keep an eye out for raptors! Vultures won't bother them, but hawks and owls love 'em. If you are walking him in the campground and a larger dog approaches (even a leashed one), pick him up fast. Camping is a wonderful way to socialize your dog! And a great way to meet other campers and other Yorkies. Be sure and tell 'em about YT. Have fun! We're heading out on Monday to watch Endeavour lift off and Higgins will be with us! |

| We just had our Teddy camping last weekend for the first time and he loved it. We brought everything you listed, and benadryl because he had his last puppy shots the day before we left and had an adverse reaction so thats what the vet said to use. (1/4 of a pill for him at 4 lbs). The only problem we had is keeping him as far away from the camp fire as possible, he kept trying to play with the hot ashes, so if you have a fire be careful. We kept him on a 12 foot tie out while we were all outside the camper and he seemed to be perfectly happy. He's usually pretty good about not chasing things, but we weren't sure how he would react in a strange place with strange creatures so we kept him tied. It was a great time with him there, have a ball! |

| If you have a stroller and you have room I would definitely suggest taking it. Daisy loves to lay in her stroller when we are sitting around the camp. She is confined in it and away from danger (ticks on the ground, campfire, dogs, etc). We always take her for a stroll around the campground in her stroller and she loves it.

| Murfee camps with us all the time. The only extra thing I take that you didn't list is my carrier for him. I have two but the one we use a LOT looks like a backpack but goes in the front. That way if he gets tired or I don't want people bothering him or just want both hands free he is all set. Patty |
