Is Kennebunkport Dog-Friendly? Hi everyone - We're heading up to Kennebunkport in a couple of weeks and thinking about bringing our five-month old Yorkie pup. Do most establishments in the area, particularly the casual-type restaurants with outdoor seating, allow dogs? Can anyone recommend a few dog-friendly eateries? I'd prefer to leave the little guy at home if he'll just end up staying in our hotel room (at the pet-friendly Yachtsman Lodge) all day. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks again, Ronna

Kennebunkport is on the southern coast of Maine... it's generally known as the location of the Bush family summer home. There are many dog-friendly B&Bs in town, which initally attracted me to the area (well, besides the lobster), but I read on tripadvisor's forums that local restaurants with outdoor seating are no longer accomodating dogs so I just wanted to get more info.

Thanks for the reply, Peaches! We stayed at the Yachtsman Lodge a couple of weekends ago and loved the K-Port/-Bunk area. The inn was, of course, dog-friendly and Chewy loved the view of the water! It was also a five minute walk to Dock Square and most of the local establishments didn't mind our baby Yorkie tagging along, except for the restaurants (understandably).

My furkids Donating Member | I never brought Sadie into a restaurant in Maine but, we did go to the clam shack (in Kennebunkport)and ate outside and they didn't say anything. I LOVE Maine...we will be going up there in a few weeks...staying in Old Orchard..CAN'T WAIT!

The Yachtsman was lovely... all of the reviews and pictures on TripAdvisor about it are true (mine is under UESyorkie)! Below are a couple of pictures of Chewy with the view from our room. We also hit the Clam Shack two out of the three days we were up in K-port! Chewy was able to come along and sit at the outside "benches" with us there and at this restaurant (great chowder) with a couple of outside tables right across from Scalawags, this very cute doggie clothing & accessories boutique, on the second floor of Union Square, I think, right near Dock Square.
