I'm trying to train Tippy to use the litter box. it doesn't have any sand, just paper pellets and the pee pad on top. Iv'e had it next to her pee pad the whole month and she never used it once!!! So then I put her old pee pad in their so she can smell the scent, but she doesn't use it!!! I put her in there right after she eats(bcuz thats usually when she uses the bathroom) but all she does is sniff and then jumps out. grrr. its frusterating. PLEASE help! any advice wud b nice. thanks

How old is Tippy? Pheobe is pee pad train, I try the litter box and never work for me, but I have read here that had work for other yt members. You may want to search here for this answer

Wrigley was pee pad trained for a few months before we decided on the litter box, but we just have a pee pad in it. We don't have any pellets or sand. We just thought it would look better to have the pad inside something and prevent spills onto the floor.
Wrigley took right to it, but we didn't leave a pad down anywhere else, only in the box. She hopped in and out for awhile, but since that was the only place her pad was, she started using it. We do have it in the same exact place we used to just keep her pad, she gets upset if you try and move it!

Where do you live...Can you outside train? My Max was litter trained when I got him. didn't like the idea of having him go in the house, so I trained him outside. He's only 3 lbs. and we live in an area with lots of know(central ny-110 inches on the ground.) He is now 10 months old and does fine in cold and snow. Somebody needs to tell him it's cold outside! He can't wait to go out. I know that pee pads and litter are necessary for some, but I was afraid he would be confused if I gave him permission to go in the house. I didn't want him thinking the whole house was his toilet. Good luck...

My Tippy is going to be 2 in March. I just decided to switch to the litter box because it just seems so much easier. and yes i put her pee pad in the box, but she still doesnt use it. she ppes outside of the box. i need help
(but thanks fro the advice) any more, bcuz nothing is working. thanks

I say you just stick to the method that works best for Tippy. In this case it seems like the potty pads worked best. I only had my Snickers for 2 weeks and he is already doing great with the potty pads. I am going to try the outside training after he gets his last shots. Keep putting her in the litter box and she will get the jist that she has to go potty in there. Hope this works....Always remember praise her and give her a treat when you put her in there....BEST OF LUCK....

There's another alternative to the litter box for keeping the pee pad in something and that is a potty pad holder. We bought ours online. There are a couple of different styles. Ours has a plastic floor and a frame that snap down over the edges of the pad securing it to the floor of the holder. We bought the one we have because our baby is used to the larger pee pads already.
