I just had a brillian idea. Now hear me out.

Remember this is an idea and i havnt actually tested this. nor do i claim that im the only one to think this up.

Ok Supplies
1. cat litter box
2. bagged dirt
3. grass seed
4. water

Put the dirt in the box, plant the seed, water it and put it into a room with florecent light bulbs and grow.

Do you think this could be a good idea for winter times when its negative freakin cold outside and your pup is already trained to pee and poo in grass?

I dunno, just a thought. i myself will try it...really and i will report my findings to everybody here. i figure if i let him poo on it and then just pickup the poo in a bag and throw it away it should work quite well. and maybe plant some tulips in it to keep it smelling yummy. i dunno we will see

Isn't there a grass that doesn't grow more than 3 or 4 inches tall? That might be something to consider...that way you won't have to mow the grass...err...clip the grass! The tulips are a nice touch too...

I think you might be on to something.

I got about a 1/4 of a roll of sod and put it on my porch once when I lived on the second floor in my condo and needed to house train a pup and since a pup has to go out so often I thought I would do this until it got alittle older. I used a spray
bottle of water after every pee and I only had to cut the grass ( with scissors a few times) I used to tell my neighbors "I have to go upstairs and cut the grass"

I worked for me fine and I can't see why your couldn't also just don't put it in anything that will mean Yoji has to jump into it unless he is used to doing that.

Did you try the litter and it didn't work. I use pee pads and they work for me now with my yorkie. All our situations are different and what works for one may not for another. Good Luck

Well i never tryed the litter box but really, daddy has adhd and always has to be doing something so growing grass inside could help keep me busy.. being that its indoors and the watering is controlled i dont see it a problem to have to clip it very much. I dunno, we will see how it works. yogi is a year old about and i think i could get him to use it. Which i always think i can do anything...isnt that how we made it to the moon??? hmm

and besides...odor should be minimal because its live grass and the pee would soak in and be used as food for the grass and be broken down. throw in a few earthworms and we have someone to eat up all that waste.

Ha I sprayed to keep it green but you're right it would just soak in the soil and there was absolutely no odor. One tulip in the middle would be good for a male dog.

Just a warning to anyone who would actually consider taking the time to do this, I am one of those..but please, i know this is a cool idea if you have the time and patience but please do not use any kind of fertalizer on your grass hehe. just had to throw that out there.

My dh was actually telling me about a lady he works with and she put sand in a litter box and puts sod over that and here dogs use it during the winter

I know this is a good idea, because I've seen something on this order for apartment dwellers. I'm sure it was ridiculously expensive tho. I can't want to see pics of your project!!

I was gonna try it with the sod, but Romeo digs so much i'm afraid i'd be cleaning up a mess every day.
