Cry I just don't get it!!!

So far I've been really proud of myself, I've managed to change the colour of my profile, resize and post pics and even cropped a pic for my avatar (but I'm not sure how I did it)! I'd really love an animated avatar but I've tried reading some of the threads here and its like a foreign language! Also I'd love to jazz my profile up a bit but with a cute background but everything I've tried looks terrible! Please can somebody help me?!!!

The antimated avatars are made using photoshop programs or other software similar. I can't help you there....

I looked at your profile. What are you looking for as your background wallpaper? If you have something specific in mind...google say...yorkie backgrounds...or yorkie wallpaper to find something you like. Or you can use a picture already in your albums...like your puppy and split the images.

Since you asked so nicely, many have used this free program. Photoscape : Free Photo Editing Software Download Just download the program, and go to the AniGif part. Set the size for you avatar where it says "set canvas size", most people use a square 125 x125 pixels. If you make a rectangle, the largest size can't be over 125. You also have to set the frame time. Most people set this at 200, this is tenths of a second. More time will make the pictures change slower; less time they will change faster. The over all file size can't be over 48.8 KB and this means probably no more than 5-6 pictures, but this varies.

You then just drag picture into the program, and it will group them together and make the Avatar. If you want to add frames or other special effects you must first go to the "Editor" part of the program and put frames, and/ or crop the pictures. After this is done you would save the pictures and drag these new pics to the AniGif part. It's really fun, once you get use to it.

Thank you!!! I did it using Photoscape!!!
(Peanut made me a great avatar but I really did want to learn to do this for myself too.) I'm really pleased with result! It took me a while I used paint first to add the colour and such!
Thanks everyone for your help!

Your welcome, yeah, it's pretty great I think, I have a program that came with Paint Shop Pro and it was so hard to learn how to use correctly. Photoscape is free and so much easier to use, and I think it does almost everything the complex programs do. Did you make the avatar that is being displayed now? It's great; wow, you guys are fast learners!

Yeah, I know, I love Peanut's Avatars; she is so talented especially with the "title" page. Did you know that you could take the one she made, and open it with this program and add or subtract a picture? For example, if you wanted to add a holiday picture to the avatar during certain holidays, or just to update the avatar.
