Animal Smiley 036 Kentucky/Tri-State Area

HI. Since I didn't see any threads from KY, thought I'd start one. I'm from the London/Corbin area in south eastern Kentucky. I call KY the 'yorkie challenged' state because they seem to be so rare here compared to the other states on YT. So, I thought why not see who's from this area since it's right near the tri-state border!
I don't have a yorkie right now. Sophie passed away 2/28 after almost 9 years together, but I'm working on getting another one ASAP!
Anybody out there?

Default Me, ooh ooh, ME!

Hi! I live in Johnson City, TN...which isn't TOO far from you, right? We got our little yorkie (who is 9.5 mo. old) from a wonderful breeder who lives just north of Knoxville (Lafollette, TN). I have her number.

I also know of another breeder who lives in my area (Gray, TN, I think) who is on this forum. Her sn is "ttreatsyorkies" I think!

I can tell you a handful of other names as well - and if you're willing to drive to the Knoxville area, believe it or not, Knoxville is a goldmine for yorkies! Try searching online on the Knoxville News-Sentinel classifieds!

Click here to get to the Knox-news animal classifieds. If I were you, I'd do a search for "yorkie" as well as "yorkshire terrier" - and if you need advice on the right questions to ask these people over the phone....that's what YT.com is here for, we're also a goldmine for yorkie advice!

PM me anytime!

Hi back. No, you're not too far away at all. I have a lead on a pup but I'm waiting to hear back on the final word. I should hear something anyday. Thanks for all the info though, I may still need it. If I get the pup I was promised I'll be driving quite away but it will be worth it. Funny how yorkies are plentiful just a few hours away but you can't hardly find one around here unless you are willing to pay big bucks. For example, a yorkie/chi mix sells for about $600, and that's a mix, the full blooded yorkies this woman had went for 1200-1500 and that's just too much for me to pay for a companion. Glad you answered sometimes I feel like the only one around here that loves yorkies!

Default Kentuckian here

I live in Frakes Ky, kinda in between you two, I think. I did not know that there is a breeder in Lafollette, Tn. I'm only an hour away from Lafollette. Can you send me the name, website, phone #, or something of the breeder you were talking about?

Thanks,
Rhonda

Default Eastern KY Girl

I live between Pikeville and Prestonsburg, KY and have a very special little girl. Her name is Zoe' Pashmina and she's 8 months old. I don't know what we did without her. She is the joy of our lives. After my daughter married and left home, I had the empty nest syndrome, but not anymore. Zoe' fills my days and night. Always ready to love me. Hope you find the baby of your dreams. Darlene W.

Teeth ky area

Hi, I know I am responding to an old post but you might still be around. I was raised and lived all my life until 18 near London, in Manchester, Kentucky. I now live in Harrodsburg, kentucky which is near Lexington. I do not have a yorkie yet but my hubby has promised one and I am kind of looking altho not quite ready to buy. Will be in a month or so. You are right!!! Ky is Yorkie challenged and most of the cheap ones are CKC registered. I want an AKC registered one that will be under five pounds. I will probably get a female to start with. just wanted to say HI!!!!!!!!

What is the name of the town you live in. I'm orginially from Buchanan County Whitewood to be more precise. Pikeville is only about an hour or so from where I grew up.

My husband is from Richlands. We are now in the Atlanta area have been for 19 years. Time flies.
