| Canned pumpkin for constipated Yorkie? Has anybody heard of giving canned pumpkin to a constipated Yorkie? If so, how much? I've also been told mineral oil helps. Anybody heard of giving your Yorkie mineral oil? Thanks for your help! Cindy & Buddy |

| Yes, canned pumpkin works for constipation. I just had to use it yesterday on Lily. It takes about 30 min to 1 hour to work. I use the rule of 1 teaspoon per pound. They aren't too crazy about it so you may need to mix it in with some wet food or use a syringe. Make sure you use pure pumpkin without added sugar. Be careful how much you give or it will result in diarhea

| My Yorks love the canned without spices, sugar, etc pumpkin. I hated it because they all got orange beards. Pumpkin is a great source of fiber. I also use cooked sweet potatoes.

| mineral oil works! about 1/2 tsp. but for no longer than a week (that's what my book says.. but after two days i'd be at the vet) you can also use vegitable oil but mineral is best because it is not absorbed. good luck! |
