| Pneumonia Sunday morning our biggest female escaped and jumped into the xpen where we have 5 babies. I think she was trying to steal one. She ripped a flap of skin off one boy and tore a little chunk of skin off. The puppy was not punctured. We were iced in and couldn't get out, the vet said to clean it with peroxide and bandage it. We did. Yesterday morning we took him in to the vet and they cut the dying skin away and sewed the healthy skin together. They put him to sleep with gas to do this. All the rest of yesterday he was ok but this morning he makes noises breathing in and out. Anyone who has had a child with pneumonia knows the sound of it. I have antibiotics from another dog that I was giving to this puppy but the vet didn't say to continue it so I didn't. Now I regret that. This baby is 3 weeks and 12 ozs. Do any of you know any home rememdies I can use on this baby? Sylvia |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I would call the vet for help, but in the mean time maybe putting him in a steamy bathroom may help but he is so tiny. Good luck!

| He's ok. We went to the vet, but before we did I called my mentor who scared the he__ out of me. She said it could be a collapsing trachea. She could hear him over the phone. He got to sounding really bad while we were on the phone so even if we had to sit for hours we were going to be there when the vet got a free minute. We had ice on our deck, when I went out the door I was in such a rush I forgot to be careful. I went down and I let go of the baby when I thot I was going to squash him. He sounded a LOT better on the way to the vets office. NOT A THERAPY I would recommend. By the time we the vets saw him he didn't sound like he really needed to be there. The vet said he thot the rattling was in his head, his nose. He forced the puppy to breath thru his mouth and he sounded even better. He said he thot the most of the noise was because the puppy was in pain. He gave him some more pain medicine and some antibiotics. I will be looking for a 2nd vet. This is the 2nd time I asked for pain meds and was told they wouldn't need it and they did. I am a responsible person and yes, I will give meds without the dr or vet if I KNOW what is going on, but I will also get to the dr or vet as soon as I can. I am so tired of being treated like an idiot. Until yesterday I was thinking of taking veterinarian classes so I could tend to my own dogs but when I thot of cutting the dying skin off this baby and how much pain he would be in when he woke, I decided I couldn't do it. Then again, I would be the one in charge and could give more pain meds when needed. Anyways, we went to drive by a couple of properties, we are looking to move. We stopped at a Sonic and the baby felt so much better he woofed at the girl at the drive up window. He woofed and woofed after we left. He was feeling a lot better with the pain meds kicking in. He's doing well now. Still whimpers but the vet told me he had to cut out a lot more skin than he showed me before surgery. He says the stitches look good. The baby is moving around very well but if of the other babies step on him he still hollers real good. He's even sleeping on his back and playing with his sister. Thanks for trying to help. Sylvia |

| Please keep us informed. Im concerned with my Ginger who has coughing episodes. Antiobiotics for 10 days didn't cure her.

Let us know as soon as you can. It's a scary thing. With kids they will cry and you know something has to be done but with our doggy babies we have to wait until we can see or hear something is wrong and by then it almost always means a vet visit and medicines. BTW, my baby is still doing well today. I have to go start a thread in Breeders talk. Sylvia | |
