Leif can't go potty... I haven't seen him potty since yesterday morning and his tummy is soooo big and kinda hard! We have tried stimulating his bottom with a warm cloth...wet and dry, with no luck! Normally the puppies potty either during or right after we feed them, but nothing we are doing is helping. He will not eat now....I'm assuming because his tummy is hurting. He will sleep for a few min. and then wake up hollering. Since he is only 3 weeks old, I know that this is not a good sign! Does anyone know of anything we can do or give him that will make him go poop? Something that would be safe for a 3 week old? Thanks in advance

I have no suggestions. Just sorry to hear that. Have you taken his temp.. Maybe the thermometer would stimulate.

| I would get that baby to a vet ASAP....you never know...it could be a bigger problem than just not being able to potty..with it being so young and soooo small it is so fragile things could go downhill FAST..id call an emergency vet just to be sure thats all it is..good luck and keep us posted!! | I would take him to the vet also. Want to make sure he doesn't have some kind of obstruction, more than likely not, but unusual for a baby so young not to be able to have a BM, all the stimulants in the world won't work if he's obstructed.

It doesn't sound like he's just constipated. He should be peeing if nothing else if this were the case....take him to the vet ASAP- ESPECIALLY because of his age and size, please. If you can't afford it now, I'm pretty sure they'd be willing to work something out w/ you! Best wishes and please keep us posted!

I think I would call the vet also since it sounds like you don't have time for canned pumpkin to work - he might need an enema. Also talk to the vet about adding more water to formula so it doesn't happen again. If you are using an evaporated milk based formula, make sure their is equal parts of the evap. milk and water (or pedialyte) - a lot of the recipes I have come across have too little water.
