| Third Bladder Surgery I am so upset. My Yorkie is 9 years old and has bladder stones again! He has a different kind than the first two times. There is no way of knowing if they will come right back again. His last surgery was 3 years ago. I feel so bad putting him through this ordeal again but if I don't I will lose him. Has anyone else had an experience with many surgery's and both Stuvite and Oxcylate stones? This is my first post to this group ,thank you all for listening. Joyce |

| I'm so sorry to hear about this ordeal that you and your yorkie are having to go through. I don't have any experience with bladder stones, but there are so many people on this forum that I am sure at least one person will have some advice for you. I hope your little man gets well soon. Please keep us updated on how he is doing. Welcome to YorkieTalk! |

| No Cause The Vet said some dogs are just prone to making stones. Colin has been on special food and medicine for years. Joyce |

| There are a number of home remedies for bladder infections, the most effective are Vitamin C and Cranberry juice. The Vitamin C acidifies the urine making it more difficult for the bacteria to grow, as well as dissolving the more common type of crystal, struvite. The Vitamin C dose is 250mg per 20lbs daily. Thought maybe this might help -- supplementing with Vitamin C and Cranberry Juice!!!! |

| Tucker has had 3 kinds of stones and surgery to remove them. He had a liver shunt- which caused it. That is the only experience I have had with it. I wish your baby the best. Keep us updated and welcome to YT!

| Have you done any online searches to see what information might be there? Sorry I can't help you more. No experience in that area.

| oh, I am so sorry!! I know how it feels to worry and putting your dog through surgery but I have no idea about bladder stones. Try doing a search and then maybe have a serious sitdown with your vet.

| Joyce, My dog Max has had 2 bladder stone surgeries and he is only 4 years old. I know your frustration. He had the calcium oxalate stones both times. The vet doesn't think it is diet related, he seems to think he is prone to them and not sure why. I do have his BUN and Creatinine levels checked in his bloodwork occasionally as his levels after the last surgery were bad and he almost went into kidney failure. Since last year everything has been okay. The struvite can be caused by diet, but not sure about the other. I just enjoy each moment with Max, because I came so close to losing him. I watch his diet and take him to the vet for bloodwork and urine every so often. Good luck with your baby. Sorry I am not much help. One of my co workers also has the same problem with her dog. Some of the smaller breeds seem to be prone to them for some reason. Jackie |
