Default How to stop bleeding nail?

The groomer cut Trixie's nail too short this morning, and now it's bleeding after taking her out. How do I stop it?

Poor Baby! I Clip My Pups Toenails And I Accidentally Cut The Outside Nail Too Short Once. I Know It Hurts ?i've Heard That Flour Works Temporarily?-but I Would Use "kwik Stop" To Be Safe. You Can Normally Find It At A Small Pharmacy Like Walgreens Or Rite Aid! Hope Your Baby Feels Better!

Kwikstop, stypic powder (or pencil crushed), cornmeal or flour will stop the bleeding. Sometimes just applying pressure will work.

Alright, I just ran out to the Pet Store and found some Syptic powder (??). Thanks for the advice. Trixie seems to be doing fine... I just have blood all over my furniture

The grooming experience was so weird today. My regular groomer quit, and the owner of the store said she'd groom Trixie instead. But I found out that she's still learning. The cut is okay, not great. And she was very apologetic about the nail incident. She didn't charge me...

vodka works wonders or anything with alcohole in it will stop the bleeding and will also help to clean it and stop infection.dap some on a cloth and put presure on the nail, hold it there for as long as it takes to stop the bleeding. sorry about spelling lol

I think someone mentioned this - but in a pinch - Plain Flour will work to help stop bleeding. I've never had to use it but I've heard it works

Someone told me one time that cornstarch is also good to use- in a pinch.
I guess it would be about the same as flour...

alcohol....hummm I went to nursing school and I always was told alcohol can induce bleeding because it keeps blood from clotting....p.s. alcohol is good to get blood out of clothing.....Im talking about rubbing alcohol..never heard of vodka being used to stop bleeding. Could that be a rumor or has anyone ever actually tried vodka??

ive used it, tye ripped his claw off and it was bleeding badly so i put vodka on a bit of cotton wool and held it there for a few mins and the bleeding stopped it also helped to keep it clean. my vet told me to do it.

Everything everyone said here is really good. The styptic powder, flour, alcohol, ect..

If you are ever out and about and have no access to any of that stuff, stick the paw into some ice cold water. Best wishes,
