bladder infection?? My Lexi had four pups one week ago today!! All are girls and are doing great! This was her first litter and mine as well. Last night, she urinated in the house two times (not like her at all). I scolded her. Today, she's done it again. I picked her up to see if it was her (I also have a boy Yorkie and I didn't want to blame him if it was her) Anyway, she had what looked like puss and maybe a little bit of blood coming out. Has anyone had anything like this after giving birth? Like I said, they were born Thursday, March 2, so it's been a week. She seems to be feeling well. I've already carted her and the puppies in to the vet twice and really don't think it's good for them. I hate to do it again if it's nothing.

I posted over the weekend asking for signs of bladder infection. If you look you will find the post and maybe it will help you. I do know that most people posted that there was some blood in the urine. I hope you find an answer to your question.

Call your vet and explain your dog's symptoms. He may want to see her - and you may be able to run her in and get her back home quickly without taking the puppys. Carol Jean

Hope your new little Mom is doing fine - I just saw this post. I am usually pretty conservative and don't necessarily rush to the vet. In this case, I would. I would be concerned about a uterine infection called pyrometria which can be fatal. I would take her temp. A normal temp is 101.5. Good luck and repost and let us know what you find out or how she is doing.

"Female" infection Well, I took Lexi in to the vet ( left the puppies home and they were fine). Lexi had a "female (vaginal)" infection. She got a shot and a week's worth of antibiotics. She's already doing much better. The vet said it has the same symptoms as a bladder infection, i.e., frequent urination, etc. Thanks for your help.
